tow package electrical problem

I have a 2001 2500 hd and am having trouble with the factory tow package wiring system. the problem occured when I went to install a tail gate led bar. I went under the truck and the 4 prong adapter was cut off so I toolk the 7 prong copnnector off and spliced the wires in and it worked for a minute then blew the right turn signal fuse and only hte left side worked then put another fuse in and the thing went goofy and only 2 leds worked on the right side and none others does this sound like a short or a ground problem. well typically grounding problems are the most common reasons for this situation, but you might want to recheck your wiring. you may have a wire crossed some where.
