I have removed all the inside cowling and I can see the heater core. However, the heater hose clamps are just about impossible to reach on the firewall. I have removed the wiper arm on the passenger side so I can get my hand and "pliers" in to remove the top clamp. However, I cannot see the bottom clamp. Do I have to remove the top clamp and hose before having any access to the bottom clamp. I have the rear heater and A/C option. I may have to resort to taking the Trans Sport to my friendly GM dealer. I will still install the cowling myself after they get the heater core in. Everything went smoothly until I tried to get at the heater hose clamps.
I would appreciate any help from anyone that has done a repair on the 1992 Pontiac Trans Sport heater core. I have the GM Service Manual as well as a Haynes Manual for the vehicle. I like the way the books are written when it says "Remove Heater Core Hose Clamps". As stated before, how does one attempt to remove the clamps when it is difficult to even see them!

Yes this subject came in here before...with similar comments. I will try to recover the thread..like 2 years ago. I think the easiest is to use a dremmel tool with a cutting blade (if ever happens to me, I'll do that) and get rid of those spring clamps..and of course use screw on type for replacement.
