hey guys i just got one of the new sentra's SE R spec v's and i was messing around with it about 3-4 months ago... i was in third at about 65mph when i donw shifted wrong. it was for like a split second! as soon as i felt the car i pushed the clutch... my friend was behind me and he said that it did even look like the car down shifted at all. but the tachometer did hit 8k for that split second...
nways the car is fine and running well... it donsent pell out in 3rd gear nmore, but i guy i talked to said that it prob dosent pell out in 3rd nmore because i prob damaged my clutch.
my main question is does anyone know if the 2007 sentras have any ECU's that would let the dealer know that i over reved it... and if there is onee, is there any way to reset it?
Thank you very much,
SE R fanatic.

that kind of info isnt eraseable on ECU's but ive done the same thing to mine, only i was in full fledged race mode at 80mph when i missed 4th and hit 2nd :( nothing was said to me when i had it in the dealer but then again i wasnt complaining of a busted motor which is what they wil look at that kind of data for, and yes i barely burn 1st now because of the clutch damage i did, luckily the clutch was the weak link in that scenario rather than the crank or rods or bearings......

man thanks a lot! i really apreciate it!
but hey was you car running fune when u took it to the dealer?
if anything happens wat should i say to them?
im just really afreaid of having to pay like 6 or 7 k for a new engine...

im not aware of nissans freeze framing an over-rev but i could be wrong, freeze frame data that comes with a trouble code goes away when you erase the code, but a critical frame, like when youre crank sensor reads an unknown value (in this case, 8500rpm) may or may not be saved to hard memory, i guess i could grab the consult tomorrow and look at mine....
edit: be also aware that whatever i find may or may not apply to 07 ECU's

thanks man! but i don't think the 07 changed much in the engine it self... they still use the QR25DE. i think the only thing they messed with was the compression ratio. nways though i really apreciate it... do you know if i can take my car to a shop that could look into my ECU and see if theres nthing there.
i just want to be sure that if nthing goes bad i can use the warranty.
and is it true that sometimes an over rev can take a while to damage the engine? i mean that because it happened a couple months ago it still can be a treat?

it could take a while, i over revved my first 240 and it ran for a little while before it stopped, turned out to be 4 bent exhaust valves. your lucky with a stock valvetrain and the high piston speeds that you didnt break alot more.

lol slide, i dont even think this dude knows what a compression check is, i wouldnt throw too much out there.....
anyways to the OP.... they changed more than compression, rather than educate you ill let you find it yourself..... when they raised the rev limit and adjusted the A/F maps to account for it who knows if they used a whole new ECU, even if it is still the same block, i know there are at least 3-4 different ecu versions for the b15 chassis sentra, so i wouldnt put it past them to change the ecu for the next chassis design..... that being said i over revved mine 30k miles ago and the only thing different is clutch feel because i blew that all to shit, the new motor in your car has a higher rev limit and is fully counterbalanced, the odds of you doing something serious are minimal but still there, if you wanna know for sure you could always go to some random ass dealer and ask them if they can see anything wrong in your read only memory

if you think you can go without mis shifting again you could put a nicer clutch in there for like 250 plus labor..... depending where youre at in fla i might tackle it for you

if you have to choose between header and exhaust go with header, you wont regret it, add exhaust later when you get some more cash, just my .02
