It's FWD, but it's possibly the best FWD car besides the protege. Plus th engine is quite nice. Biggest problems I believe come from the transmission.
As for go vs show...thats not a question, obviously go. Cars are meant to be driven, not loaded down with stereos, lcd screens and tacky bodykits and wings. If you want something to look at goto your local art gallery.
But really it doesn't matter what car you get. It's the driver that makes the difference, not the vehicle. Remember kids, there's no such thing as a slow car, just slow drivers.

im not sure about the slow driver and no such thing as slow car thingy...:bloated: :bloated: but the spec-v is faster then the protege. just the protege is better at cornering alil. and the Spec is no where close to being slow. the show part can be fixed. The spec-V is a very nice car. worth every penny with the LSD also whats to complan. they ppl telling you that its slow are just envious of the power the spec gots. test drive it and you will see how fun it is!!!

ohh i forgot to mention there was a slight transmition problem with the 02' model, but it's fixed for 03' and the problem isent even anything to bitch about, i think it was something being too stiff to shift into gear or something forgot anyways. nothing major and hey you got a 6sp how can you not be happy!!! any who are you hearing these things from no power... u gota be kidding me, this baby pulls hard!!!!

Power is subjective, sure the spec has no power compared to a ls1, trans am, etc., but compare the spec to a civic and it feels like a rocket. With some mods they are on par with the 350z, which is pretty damn good for a sub 20k car (including the mods) IMO.

There is NO other car under $20k that even comes close to the spec
when it comes to speed(2002 & 2003 models sub-compact).
Whoever has been feeding you that slow bullshit better step up or shut up!

You mean except for the MSP and srt-4? Both of which are also under 20k and faster than the spec-v, the srt-4 by a lot....but c'mon, who wants to own a neon? (no offense to any neon owners/likers out there :D )

As for the Neons...
I used to sell Dodges and I have seen a Neon after a minor fender bender which only damaged a minor portion of a Toyota Camry's rear bumper. But the Neon's front was damaged so bad, it seem as the driver would have been holding the engine after the accident.
THOSE THINGS ARE MADE OF PAPER, CHECK IT IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME.

Why not show & go? Unless you want a sleeper. If a car is all show and no go, its a poser> looks fast, but isnt. Why not have the best of both worlds, just spend your money evenly, 50 on go & 50 on show.
