i just bought a 2003 focus zts last week and finally got a chance to see what she can do .. dont get me wrong i know shes slo lol but still. a buddy of mines got a 2002 monte carlo ss, its bone stock except for his idea of an exhaust (a crome tip from auto zone lmao) anyways i i call him up and we cruse thru town to the only red light lol (small town) light goes green, i squeal a bit but i get the jump on him i pull away slighty by 3rd and when i hit 4 hes about a half a car back i held him to about 75 and shut down,he was less than a half a length back , i thought to myself how did i beat him lol?? he was like i wasnt ready and talkin all kind of shit ... so we went again same result but this time i had him by about 2 foot or so more...well not bad for first kill in the zts .....:icon16:

Second slowest race evar.

Good kill none the less, at least some people are still running. What are your plans for the Focus?

Are you sure he didnt have his parking break on or something? j/k... I of all ppl know anything can happen on the street.

All the Focus ZTS's I see are 4-doors. Which I know they dont weigh shit something like 2700 lbs with a DOHC 2.0 that pushes 130/135 but that Monte Carlo SS has a 3.8 pushing 200/225 and weighs in at a hefty 3350.

Seems to me that Monte Carlo should have walked you without any problems what so ever, but it is the streets..

Nice kill...

i have been lookin at this supercharger from fawcett performance ..it has a self luburcating oil system so ya dont have to tap the oil pan.its fairly expensive tho like 3500 or so ouch...i guess for now ill settle for a nice exhaust nothing to farty maybe a magnaflow who knows... like i said i know my car is slo 16.1 1/4 mile hopefully i can get it down to mid 15 's soon ... but yah thats still slo lol

It looks like your right. I would have never thought that. I was guessing a mid 15 second car. What a cow...I have been around several guys with 3.8 n/a that do have mods and are running low 14's. Thats pretty modded though.

Your friend can do some very simple mods and get that car on down the road a little better...

Nice job...I dont know much about aftermarket for your car but I hear they can be made to handle real well....

You would think they could of dropped the 240 HP Supercharged 3.8 V6 in it and at least made it just a little bit more worthy of the "SS" badging.

Well there is an SS and an SS supercharged, much like the SS and SS supercharged cobalts.

Yeah, for some reason they didnt drop the L67 in the Monte until 04...Dont make much sense since they have been putting them in the Grand Prix since 97...

I'm not all that surprised. I raced a friend of mine who had a n/a SS Monte Carlo and and waxed him, and my car is not really all that fast anyway.

+1 I did too a couple years ago in the stealth. Well he actually blew by me and i followed suit. He was about 4 or 5 cars up with more momentum, and i pulled from 40ish to 105 and lessened the gap to about a car then he let off to turn. I did have 5 people (including myself) and 4 backpacks in the car, but i caught him lol.

I don't know what is up with your friend but I own a 2002 monte carlo ss 3.8 n/a and I know that it isn't the greatest or fastest car but I have taken down many civics, focus, altima, and old tiburons. Maybe your friend doesnt know how to drive but ask him if he hit the traction button because my car takes off faster with the trac control on.

GForce957
02-10-2008, 03:51 AM
Does traction control really come into play at half minute 1/4's? Either way, my neighbor has an old tiburon and flies down the street at WOT every fucking morning at like 9 am, going 50. Most annoying thing ever.

gorrilla1985
02-10-2008, 03:58 AM
I don't know about the times but I do know that there is a difference between the trac control on/off. I raced a newer Altima with trac off and lost. Then again with it on and won.:smokin:

Either way, I do not understand how GM can seriously call a 3.8L 3400lb car with 200 hp an SS.

gorrilla1985
02-10-2008, 05:07 AM
I agree... but still its not that bad of a car. Its no Camero SS or Roush Mustang, but I never thought it was going to be either. It successfully accomplishes what Chevy's and Fords are great for though.... crushing rice burners who think thier little cars are the greatest on the road.:grinyes:

No need to type in bold we can read what you are typing. I agree, I don't know why they would call that a SS. It is a marketing idea I am sure.

Beating bone stock Honda Civics is nothing to brag about, and I seriously doubt thats why Chevy came out with the Monte Carlo SS. In fact, I'm pretty sure that there was never a board meeting with Maximum Bob and the guys sitting around thinking...huh, I got beat by a Civic with a fart can, we need to develop a car just to beat those!

Its a marketing gimick, and nothing more. It gives the wanna be Jeff Gordons and Dale Jrs something to drive to and from work and have thier Days of Thunder fantasies. Its a low 15 second car on a good day downhill with a tail wind. I raced one of the supercharged ones back when I had my BMW and pulled on him from a 60 roll up to God knows what, I don't remember. But hey, maybe I'm baised. But if your game, come on down to Texas, I got a nice little riced out Mazda here that would blow that Monte Carlo out of the water.

Again, good kill to the OP, keep 'em coming.

I call B.S. Supercharged 3.8's cant be beaten.. especially at a 60mph roll race...

^^Haha.

Actually that does surprise me a bit. Having ridden in a 05 325i countless times, it did not feel faster than a GTP, which I have only driven once. Never really did get to drive the 3 series other than parking it a couple times but the guy who had it was not shy about driving the piss out of it when I rode along.

They fall on there face up top usually around 80ish stock. Headers a cam or rockers solves that problem though...
