well,
My best friend got back into town lastnight from a business trip. He was down in Miami FL for a couple of weeks and we had been exchanging emails and i was telling him how i took up modeling for a pass time to try and reduce the stress.

Well we meet up for lunch today to exchange gifts since we could not earlier and to my wonderful surprise i unwrapped a Tamiya 1/24 Enzo Ferrari (item# 24301**3800)

Well i just about shit when i seen it cause i had looked at them in one of the stores i was in but it was priced almost double the price of the regular tamiya cars around $65Can. So i did not think i was ever going to be able to justify spending that much on a plastic model :D

He told me he hit some big hobby shop in Miami and he knew the car i was working on was made by Tamiya so he told the guy he wanted the best Tamiya model car they had in stock, well the guys eye lite up and he went in the back and brought out this $300 dollar model.. lol, i have no idea what it was.. so he crapped himself and said he had better rethink it walked around the store and found this one to be the best of the higher end stuff on the shelves.

Well i have no idea when i will open it i think i had better wait till i finish what i have on the go and maybe pick up a couple of cheaper break in models before i give a shot at this. I guess worse comes to worse as long as i dont screw up the glue jobs the paint jobs can be redone and fixed.

Just wanted to share, If anyone has experience with this model i would love to hear.

This is likely the $300 kit-

Caterham 7 JPE (http://www.tamiya.com/english/products/10203jpe/jpe.htm)

But the Enzo is in every way a terrific kit- arguably the finest ever made in 1/24. You'll have no trouble finding builds of this kit by searching in the Street/Show In Progress area on 'Tamiya Enzo'. (There's one there near the top now.)

You'll do well to get a couple of simpler builds under your belt first. Get comfortable with that airbrush, too. But even on the sprues the Enzo kit is gorgeous. You'll get to it sooner or later, and you'll enjoy it when you do. :grinyes:

You wouldn't happen to know the name of said hobby shop would you?! I'm about 1.5 hours from Miami. :)

Very articulately put there Andy. lol

You will soon learn that the Tamiya Enzo is basically the holy grail of 1:24th plastic engineering. Take your time with it and you will have a seriously long build ahead of you. Enjoy!

I've built 1 Enzo and 3 FXX Enzos and they're great kits. Enjoy!

MPWR...you've gotta be right about the Caterham, it's the only thing close to $300

well, tamiya have a couple of 1/12 cars in (sort of) kit form that are of mixed media.
Off the top of my head I can think of the Porsche Carrera GT, Ferrari F50 and two Caterhams (the Jonathon Palmer car and a regular car).

Never actually seen these in person though so I'm not even really sure how "kit" they are.

Ah, the other "Holy Grail" of Tamiya's lineup. I still want one of their 1/12 kits vary badly. But I cannot surmise the cost for a die cast that is partially built. Still I will own one some day.

not all of tamiya's 1/12 are partial built die-casts.
I'm sure of a Mini and most defintely the Honda Ra 273 (as seen in the Completed Forum (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=879311)).
These two have been whispering to me for a very long time now...

I've seen the 1/12 Carrera GT at my local hobbyshop.

And it's a really nice "kit".

The body and all the other parts were already painted:
