my supervisor has 2000 gle and hes been talking alot of smack about mine and how he can smoke me lublubla he is auto stock and i'm auto with prcai and muffler , should i race him what do u think

If you read the forum of the V6 Altima vs the Maxima, they state in there its impossible for a heavier car with less hp to beat a car with more hp, so if you think about what those genious' said, its impossible for you to beat your supervisors car because he has more HP, and a tad bit more weight, :rolleyes:

It depends on what type of race you have against him, if it is from a standstill you should be able to take him, not easily as some may make it sound.
If it is from a roll you'll probably have your @$$ handed to you, that's the truth and anyone who knows about this will tell you the same.

Regardless of the heavier/hp car crap, it means diddly here because you are in essence racing the same engine so it'll mostly come down to the driver and how well he knows how to launch or go from a roll.
The differences in speed is not that great and it isn't a big advantage on either end.

This is a totally biased fact, not like others who favor certain cars because they want so bad to justify that any car can beat a 222hp auto max just because their's can't.

ok guys heres what i'm thinking , i have 98 auto dynos 155hp stock plus prcai and a muffler that about 160hp, his car dynos about 185hp and he's stock so thats 25 hp difference but he is heavier by about 250 lbs at least because he has the gle version and his tranny is heavier than mine so f u take in consideration the 1/10 rule which is 10 hp for every 100 lbs , i think its about even:confused: keep in mind that 2000 engine dynos that much after the vi kicks in not before so i peak before him and i launch alot better than him hes a kind of older and he isn't that mean to his car so i think i have a good chane, what u think:cool:

ok, stock vs. stock, a 4th gen is faster than a 5th gen, at least to 60, by a tick or so...now add on the fact that you are modded and that he has a GLE with extra weight, and that puts you at even more of an advantage. just go for it

Again Mad are you talking a stoplight to stoplight race, if so you should have a slight<make that a point to you not to sleep and I do mean slight advantage from the standstill because of your lighter car plus mods.

If you are highway racing from a roll the VI will kick in and you'll get left behind somewhere in the range of 70-120. All in all though don't you think that you are racing him unfairly if you have mods and he doesn't?

What if he was modded like you, then it would be a fair race and you can say that you honestly won. However you are both Maximas and I'd be more than proud to lose to another Max if I had to lose that's the way I'd rather it be.
Good luck though, don't spin your tires on the take-off and you'll beat him, not by a lot, he'll be right at your door but you'll take him.

I pretty much race anything that will step on the gas....Raced a Z06 and M5 in my buddies GSR.....not much of a race....but still fun to see what a real car can do.

all i have cosmetic wise is the clear corner blinkers. i have pics but i took them all in high quality so they exceed the 104kb limit on this server. i'll send pics if you want me too though. i can send them to your email, or you can hang on a couple days so i can take some lower definition pics. just picture a 95 black emerald se, with clear corners. cosmetics are my last endeavour with this car. i probably won't get a body kit anyway, don't wanna drill holes in the maxima, but this spring i'm past due for some rims and an inch an half drop
i'll wash it sometime this weekend (s'posed to rain tonight and 2morrow)
and i'll take pics in low qual and post them as is. then i'll post more with the rims and shit sometime in May.

oh, well, it's just a difference in opinion...i picked the merlot cause it looks great, imo, and the paint is absolutely flawless and glistens in the sunlight, plus i didn't wanna look like every other car out there with dull, boring colors. i've only seen 2 or 3 Max's total in my color, but about 8 million in sivler or black

Well, as for speed, most people dont look at a car and say its ugly cuz its slow, but yeah yours is faster look at the obvious differences. As for looks, well mine is a bit more modded, a done up 4th gen would look equally as good. As for your interior, I had a GLE so I know its nice inside, but I dont like leather anymore, if I had it, my car would be just as nice as a fourth gen inside, as for the BOSE sound, well my new car audio is better then the Maximas BOSE stock, it bumps good, but whatever this NDSS shit is in my car, it hits harder and clearer then the BOSE did/does, i myself dont like subwoofers and all that audio crap, so I dont have any.

But I still love 4th gen Maximas, I drove one and loved it, wish it were a 5 speed so it had some more balls, but oh well.

After seeing the new Maxima it seems that I will have to become a VQ enthusiast rather than a Maxima enthusists, so an Alty is probably what I am going to get next. I would like a 5 speed 3.5 with a ground effects package like yours, where can I get one when the time comes?

I've never shown chicks a picture of my car, I was getting laid before I had this car....hell I got laid in my Maxima, so my point of posting a picture of my car was, people said it looked like shit so I said it looks pretty damn nice too me and the chicks I get with in it.

I think the original question in this thread had to do with a race...

The answer is: divide the horsies by the weight of the car. For example my max is about 3600 lbs and 255 horse. Math tells me that 255/3600 is .0708. So that means I have .07 horsies per pound of vehicle.

So then in your example I think we have about a 3600 lb 180 hp car (.05) vs about a 3400 lb 160 hp car (.47). Now these are just figures off the top of my head - so you have to get the right figures and do the math yourself.

Since you are racing auto vs. auto I would definately NOT say this is a drivers race - "drivers" don't drive autos - moms drive autos.

The only other thing that can alter what the math tells us about hp vs weight is how the car is geared. I don't think there is any difference here, maxs are geared like dad cars - if they were geared more like the mustang for example they would be much faster than they already are.

An example of gearing is I raced a GT the other day and he got up on me about a car and a half in 1st and 2nd gear, but he couldnt pull any further away all the way to about 100mph (my maximum limit for a 6 point traffic ticket). The GT is geared more aggressively than the max so the GT wins.

JCat - that's a cool conversion. I've never thought of it that way.

Again it depends on what type of race you are talking about, I'm not maintaining any Gen bias here as some others who are just too proud to say that it comes down to what type of race we are talking about.

Question was a race of a auto 2000 GLE and a auto 98 GXE.

With my 98 GXE, a 2000 GLE would lose. Ive raced two, a 2000
GLE and a 01 SE both automatics with my 98 Maxima. It may not
be much but we raced them both times, each car to 0 to 100 and
my 98 GXE was a car lenth ahead of both the 00 and 01. Might I add

All the arguments about which car is faster can be cleared up by math.

I looked up a few maxs on edmunds:

2002 3224 lbs 255 hp = .079 hp/lb
2001 Same as 2000
2000 3199 lbs 222 hp = .0693 hp/lb
1999 3014 lbs 190 hp = .063 hp/lb

You can keep going all the way back. What it comes down to is the 5th gen is the fastest max ever built period.

Can the driver make a difference? Oh hell ya. But assuming the same driving abilities the 5th gen wins.

The only other factor is if you have manual or auto. The manual beats all - again assuming you know how to drive it.

So, to sum it up : All other factors being equal the 5th gen is the fastest max ever built.
