I purchased an oil filter socket which can be used with my 3/8 inch ratchet from the top.

I have a 90 pickup. Which should be the same. Look over top of the passengers side front tire. There should be a small panel with 4- 10 mm screws holding it to the wheel well. Remove them without removing the rubber piece attached and the panel will drop down far enough to see the filter straight ahead. Hope it works for you. RM

your oil filter should be by the fuel filter. you will need to jack up ure truck and go under to find it..its kinda hard to look for it from above.

I have a 91 toyota pickup (well had before I totaled it) and I had to replace the oil filter, which is right above the passenger side front tire. I jacked the truck up and went from underneath, I could touch it with my fingers but couldn't get a grip so I had to go to autozone and buy that tool made for removing oil filters (not sure the name of it) and use that but it came right off with that. If you ever replace the fuel filter, could you please tell me how for sake of just knowing. I wanted to replace that too but could never find it, but one day I was looking through the top and found it. It seems like the built it with the engine around it, almost impossible to get too. Well I hope the oil filter information helped, good luck.

well for me..i have a 93 pickup and i just changed my fuel filter recently. i had to take out the starter just to get to it. taking out the starter is probably the only way if yours has the same engine as mine. takes lot of patience and time.
