Tie rod end removal

Any tricks to removing the outer tie rod ends? We've separated the tie rod ends but we can't get a strong enough hold on the inner's to turn the outers. I've tried putting a wrench on the inners but it just prys off and I can't hold the channel locks tight enough. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as the car is already apart.

Never mind. I didn't loosen the jam nut.
