1st question - Do the holes in the crosshatched area of the oil dipstick represent anything (such as 1 quart intervals)?
2nd question - How low is too low? Is any level within the crosshatched area ok, or should it stay above a certain hole on the dipstick ect?
Thanks!

Depends on how many holes. Usually the crosshatched area is 1 qt top to bottom, at least on an engine this size. A very small or very large engine may be different.
The crosshatched area is the fill range. Anything in that range is fine.

OK, I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't 1 quart per hole.
Thanks.
Thanks.
