Power steering stiff when cold

When I start my car in the morning and begin to drive to work i have a really stiff spot in my power steering inbetween 10 and 2 oclock im not sure what is causing this
its a 2001 buick regal GS

What is your weather like? Did you check power steering reservoir fluid level?

Fluid level is fine weath is about 32f 0 c
but there is still a stiff spot when the car is warm

Rack and Pinion. There were some GM TSBs covering a similar issue for earlier Regals but not sure if it is applicable to the 2001 model. Do you have the variable ratio/assist steering option.

I know on the older models (94-96) it was normal to do that until they warmed up.

I have a 98 it does the same thing till it is warm.

I've got a '99 LS and '01 GS. Neither one of them ever have the problem OP stated even when temps get down into the 20s and according to his last post "still has a stiff spot when the car is warm". Doesn't sound normal to me. :grinno:
