any idea how to remove the rear shelf of a vx acclaim to install 6 by 9's. and will they fit.

I doubt they will fit, the main is set for 6x6, you might need to file the metal down to make it fit for the width of the speaker.

Car radio places normally do this for you, they don't charge much, about 100 bucks for installation.
