I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but figured I'd ask anyway.....
Ok, I just picked up my truck after having an Auburn limited slip and new gears installed. I had taken in my own oil and noticed they had charged me for oil. I had my own.... :eek7: They said that you cant use synthetic with Auburn's at all, "it says it in the manual".... Sure enough, it says they used a "high quality NON-synthetic and a friction additive" to do their testing with. It says "to avoid differential clutch chatter and for optimum performance, use the oil and additive described above. Use of other additive and oil types may cause differential clutch chatter."
I figured, let them put in their shop lube of choice since I'll be changing it after the break-in anyway but when I do.... Can I go ahead an use my SYNTHETIC of choice with an Auburn diff?

limited slip diff uses 80-90wt with 4oz friction modifier added some who have used synthetic have had slippage /chatter and went back to recommended fluid.as i'm sure you know this type of diff requires fluid changes often. like 20-30,000mi if your working it hard............

Use what the manufacturer reccommends, especially if your gear set came with a warrenty.

Thanks for the inputs.... :bigthumb:
I change my gear lube at about 1/yr or 15k anyway (just because) so that wont be an issue....
