Hello all!
Yup, another prelude owner looking for nuther site(since hondaprelude.com) was KIA. I'll gets some pics and stuff added on later when I get the ride outta the shop. Here's the situation. Coming home from work last week down the interstate and bang!(rattle, rattle, kerplunk!), felt like I ran over a turtle or something. All lights come on and then. . . nothing. Car dies and no restart. Coasted to a stop in middle of slow lane(they were doing construction and concrete walls on both sides w/ absolutely no emergency lane). Called the wrecker and waited. Kept looking in the rear view and noticed 1) It was getting dark 2) people were taking evasive actions to avoid my parked car in the middle of road 3) airbags don't work when hit from behind, so I bailed out. Hopped over the wall and started jogging back down the road a bit attempting to flag passersby to slow down, but too late. Apparently one wasn't paying that close attention and locked 'em up, swerved to miss my car and got rear ended by a county jailer official who also side swiped the lude. Can you say "pileup"? Traffic is at a stand still and I'm now running from car to car checking on all that's involved. Long story short. . . What I ran over was the harmonic balancer and a couple of belts. Turns out that the Crank pulley(the one the timing belt rides on) sheered the key and spun on the crank. . . jumped time, bent valves, you know the rest. Insurance covering the body damage, but your's truly covering the engine repair. Who wants to sell me a H23a? I live in Bowling Green, KY and am in need of a Si motor that runs good. I'm hoping a few of you have done the h22 swap and have a good replacement for my little baby that you would be willing to part with for practically nothing(or a reasonable price) I would be willing to drive somewhat to pick up or pay for crating and shipping. Thanks in advance!

well, i have a 95 prelude si and i was thinkin of doing a h22a swap and selling my h23, but im not sure if i want to spend so much. its got 118k miles and runs good, since i got it, i always warmed it up at minimum 4 minutes even in a rush because thats just how i am i guess. my friends are used to it. i live in NY. how much would u be willing to pay? u can try hmotorsonline.com, they have motors.

Hey Midnite,
Thanks for the link. I appreciate the offer, but I went to that web site and they had a JDM H23a w/ 35K miles for $1000. I went ahead and bought it. I wanted to do the H22 swap, but mine's an A/T and it would be a little more complicated to do(plus the place that's installing this motor will not attempt a swap such as that, they'll only do direct replacement). Much appreciation on the link, though. Just curious, how much would you part with your old motor for? The shop that's doing mine cannot find a H23 through their normal connections, but I would definitely tell them about yours if you want.
Thanks again,
rob
