2004 Liberty Heating problem

I have a 2004 Liberty that gives sporadic heat. I checked the coolant level and it is okay. The blower works but at idle just blows cold air, even though the engine is at normal operating temparature. Under acceleration it starts to provide heat.

has anyone experienced this problem, and if so, what did you find to be the cause? And what is the fix?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tony

Brought the Jeep into my garage and found there was a leak coming from the water pump, at the front end of the shaft. I removed the drive belt and the pulley wobbles. I just ordered a replacement pump. Apparently the problem was the pump and it was not circulating the coolant.

I removed the pump and not having yet seen the repacement, I am concerned about how the pulley attaches to the pump. There is a threaded end piece on the outer side of the pulley. The threads end before meeting the surface of the pulley. I am assuming that the threads are there to attached some kind of tool to remove the pulley from the shaft.

Is my assumption correct? If so, is there another method to remove the pulley without any special pulley removal tool? I do have a hydraulic press but I am concerned of damaging the pulley in the removal process.

Am I over-thinking this or is there a simple solution or method that I am overlooking?

Thanks for any input,

Tony
