1995 pickup 2.2 missing?

I have a 1995 S-10 2.2 5 speed 205,000 miles.
It started acting up a few weeks ago. It would idle fine, but on acceleration in 3rd 4th and 5th it would chug or miss occasionally. Once it warmed up it would quit and run fine. It got progressively worse and this weekend it was missing when idling also. Once I got it warmed up it ran fine.
This morning it was really bad. I drove it a couple of miles and was never able to get up to speed, it was missing too bad. I could smell gas also. I think one cylinder is not firing at all. I have the OEM AcDelco plugs, which I replaced a few months back. I am going to try the plug wires tonight (AcDelco also).
I was discussing this with someone at work and he was surprised the check engine light has not come on. That is when I realized the light may be dead, as the left half of my speedometer has not been lit for years.
If the plug wires do not fix the problem, what other problems go away when the vehicle warms up? Or is it moisture that dries up when the engine warms up?
Any help would be appreciated, with my luck the plug wires will not fix the problem, my wife called me later this morning and told me the washer leaked all over the floor today also.
Happy &^%$#@# New Year!

If the plug wires does not take care of miss post back.
Also if you have a spark tested check for good hot blue spark to all plugs.
Does the check engine light come on for a bulb check when key is first turned on?

It was the plug wires. I removed them and #4 plug was black on top. I tried to repair this wire when I pulled the boot off the connector months ago. It was fine for a while, but it failed recently.
Service engine light lights up with the key on, apparently a bad wire causing a miss doesn't throw a code. I have never seen a code with this truck, even when the cat converter was plugged and causing problems.
Just curious, why was this post moved to the Blazer section? It is a pickup.

Thanks for posting back the fix.
Not many people thank us or post back how it went.
It makes our day when people do.
Glad you got it fixed.
Good Luck

Some one might have mixed it up with the S-10 Blazer.
But most S-10 stuff is moved to the Blazer forum.
