2000 DOdge Ram 2500 5.9 V8 136000 miles 4x4 wont start in park, Tranny stop going into Park at the same time. Adjusted lever now all gears are good, Tranny moves freely and Indicator is right on the spot in all gears, truck only starts in neutral though. R, N, D, 2,1 work good to. Any Ideas, tranny Fluid Looks Good, Need to check it at daylight with sun light, Did it with a night Light

The shift indicator might show in P but the actual gear selector (on the tranny itself) that shifts the tranny in park is probably not all the way in Park position. It happened on my other vehicle. When I'm inside the vehicle, I have to move the gear shifter hard into Park position then it engages the tranny in Park. If I just move the gear shifter normally into park, it does not engage it in Park.

Tried, saw the function on all gears, the truck works on all of them and you can feel the notches as you go down and up and including the park and of course the truck stays in place. Any more suggestions? Thanks.

I have not done any work related to park/neutral issue on this vehicle but on other vehicles I have, the problem was with the Park/Neutral switch which needed replacement.
