Check Engine Light

I have a 2001 Olds Intrigue with 158,000 miles (bought it brand new) and my Check Engine light just came on a week ago. A friend of mine has a Diagnostic tester which can read the codes, and it came up with the following two codes:

335 - Crankshaft position sensor A circuit malfunction.
372 - Timing reference High resolution sinal, A too few pulses.

Since the light came on, the car takes a few seconds longer to turn over (harder starts) and it sometimes dies at low rpm's. When driving, it seems fine.

Does anyone know what would be involved to fix this, is it just a case of replacing a bad sensor, and/or something worse. Any advice or shared experiences would be helpful.

Happy New Years,
Mike

I strongly believe that replacing the crankshaft position sensor will fix both of those things.

Ive never done one, but I hear they arent too hard, its located behind the starter underneath the car, its a common thing to go wrong, so if you do some searching around their should be a better description on the replacement procedure.

A basic Chiltons repair guide is good for things like this too if youre unsure of what youre doing.
