Evo VIII vs. Trailblazer SS

Not a typical street race. It happened this afternoon. I just happened to line up at a light next to this hot blond {Steiner looks over shoulder to make sure wife isn't watching him type} in a black Trailblazer SS while we were waiting to get on the freeway. Light turns green and she not only chirps the tires, but she takes off like a wild woman down a sweeping 25mph downhill onramp trying to get in front of me before the onramp lanes merge. Not today Hooters girl! It didn't occur to me what was happening until I was already into 3rd at about 25mph. But I had enough boost to even the pace as the onramp straightened out, shift into 4th and close the gap before passing at about 80mph with a couple hundred feet to spare. She pulled up next to me on the freeway and gave me a thumbs down when I looked over. It hurts my feelings when pretty women are mean to me so I had to stick out my tongue and fuck with her for the next 3 or 4 miles. At times speeds were in excess of 110mph but she just couldn't find a way to get in front of me. I'm an ass. What can I say.
I couldn't tell you what mods her SUV had besides an exhaust, but I've got pretty much all of them on my Evo - short of a big turbo. LOL. It's running cams, an IX turbo and all the other bolt-on goodies with a 100 octane tune.

Obviously your Evo is no slouch but I'd bet she was in disbelief that she wasnt overtaking you to get on the highway...lol... Had to be fun whoopin up on her and playing with her on the highway...sounds like it was good times...
Man, those TBSS are sick for an SUV. I believe they are mid 13's stock maybe high 13's...
The last day that the track was open here a guy in his Evo running very low 12's and even dipped into 11's...Evos are sweeeet!!!

I think the TBSS's are low to mid 14's. On the other hand the SRT-8 Jeeps, I believe are 13's from the factory. Plus the SRT-8 looks way cooler IMO.
Sounds like a good time Steiner. Any plans on going with a bigger turbo?

Thanks guys. Yeah it was fun. No plans to upgrade to a big turbo like a 3076, GT35r or 50 trim but the smaller 20G EvoGreen would be a nice fit. I'm actually really enjoying the combo of low end grunt and top end pull that from the stock turbo, aftermarket cams and high boost 100 octane tune.
I was thinking about trading in for an '08 STi but I dunno. I'm going to wait and see how it handles and what kind of aftermarket potential we see from it. The hatchback would be nice for the kids but I'm not interested in sacrificing too much performance.
Next month I'm planning to do some things though to the Evo. Changes to the boost control system and turbo are on tap. Stay tuned...

What about the new Evo...considering you already are into one already? Or do you just want to be one of those people that say..."Yeah, I drive a Subaru, but I miss my Evo so badly"...?
An Evo was a car on my list...but I just can't find myself to hop into something with a single turbo...

Don't get an 08 STi, bleh. They are fugly imo with this new design. Given the choice between the two I would definately take your evo over an 08 STi. And if you must get new, get a new EVO! :p They look at least two billion times better than the STi's.

The new STI is more "Evo" than the new Evo X in my opinion. I'm just not feeling the Evo X's 3600lb curb weight. Plus that Scooby hatch screams WRC to me. It's beautifull in its own unique way. :)

The new Evo is nice looking, and the options are nice.
But, if you buy the F1-style transmission model, which I believe is the MR... you can't touch the motor. I was at Mitsubishi North America HQ a few months back and they had one outside and one of the head dudes was showing some folks the car and somebody asked about aftermarket support. He explained that if you want to tune the car you need to get the base EVO or GSR model.. whichever it is with the 5-speed manual.
He says that the transmission has so many complex algorithyms for shifting patterns and throttle positions and various other 'things' designed for the cars specific power output. So if you mod the car, it can screw up the transmissions whole mojo.
Eh, I still prefer manual transmission anyways...
