The old gasket isn't stuck to the block is it? Sometimes that happens the old gasket gets hot and sticks to the metal then when you put the new filter on it wont seal right because there is two gaskets.

i prob should have mentioned that the first time but no there is no other gasket stuck to the block i checked when i installed the new one also the gasket around the oil pan has been changed b4 and is pretruding abit which is leaking small amounts of oil but not enough to be causing this prob thanks for the reply

There is dye you can put in the oil that shows up under a black light. If you do this and look for the leak before too much more oil comes out then maybe you can find it. Good luck.

To reply and close this thread i finally figured it out and might be something you want to check on your camaro is the base that the oil filter screws into after you get the filter off in the middle of the base is a 13 mm bolt make sure it is tight if not it will leak oil at the top where it connects to the engine hopefully if anyone else has this prob it will help thanks for the replies everyone
