98 monte z34 problem...

I have a 98 monte with the 3800 srII V6. Whenever I rev my engine past 4 or 4.1K RPM it stutters like the RPMs are maxed out and makes a jerking motion and sounds as if its misfiring. Also it stalled out a couple times the other day for no apparent reason. The SES light has been on and the comp is popping a code for the EGR valve since I got the car two weeks ago. Would a faulty EGR valve cause this kind of behavior? It's also loosing coolant somewhere (smells like it might be burning it...[Hopefully not the head gaskets...])
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

A very common problem with that engine is the upper intake leaking coolant
inside and outside the engine. The EGR tube in the intake melts the plastic and causes a coolant leak. Look around the intake around the throttle body area for a leak.

Alrighty, I'll check it out, prolly tomorrow. Took it back to autozone to have it scanned again yesterday night , and it's still popping the EGR code, and now an IAC code. Could the above described problem cause both codes to pop on the OBD? Also the service engine light went off las night after hitting about 5500 RPM and ~95MPH las night, stayed off while driving today.
Tomorrow my mechanic will take a thorough look at it for me and hopefully be able to fix all the major problems with it... I love my monte and don't want to get rid of it...

Its possible your EGR vavle is just dirty. Very easy to clean. Carbon builds up in the butterfly valves and causes them to stick. Check your EGR lines and Vaccum lines as well. Plastic does melt.
