Geno... step forward for deputization... heretoforth known as "Geno" or "driver".

(I especially like "Geno" due to the fact of a Cheesesteak shop in Philly operating under the same moniker.)

(SMH.. I thinnk it HAS just been made into a thread...)

lol, i actually just got it today for an amazing price that will remain undisclosed. I have to pick it up in another state. Tommorrow i'm going to see if my cousin can help me out in transporting it here since he runs a chevy dealership here.

and on another note, stone mound, i've always notice the "car audio guru" in your sig. so tell me everything you know about JL Audio 15w1 8ohm subs.

ok...well first, Jl=overpriced, but good quality stuff. 15w1 means its an introductory/beginner sub...15 inches..since its 8 ohm...unless you get two, the lowest impedance for that sub would be 8 ohms..so you gotta get an amp that putts out the wattage you want at 8 ohms...unless you buy another and wire it in parallel so you can get 4 ohms...4 ohms is the highest ive usually gone..all the stuff i look for is usually in the 1-2 ohm range..but it should get ya goin if your not into some serious wangin..

and nice fuckin find man...tell us how it pulls!

I got a deal on 3 of them used. I'm only pushing 2 though. what I don't understand is how ohms effects wattage. for example I have a 900watt spl 2 channel amp. which is most likely a 4 ohm amp. what do you think would be the best way to wire it up? 2 channel mode (one sub per channel) or on channel bridged?

ohms effects wattage because think of it as a highway 2 lanes, 4 lanes, 8 lanes..electricity is the cars...less cars can go through at a given time on fewer lanes, ohms is just a way of measuring resistance..the more resistance, the higher the ohm number..when the amp tries to push out say 1000 watts at 1 ohm its harder for it to do when theres more resistance...so at 2 ohms it only does 500...4 ohms only 250 and so on...some amps differ...and since your subs are 8 ohms, im gonna guesstimate this...since most amps are commonly 2 ohms(especially 2 channel ones) it would be 450 at each channel at 2 ohms...225 at each channel at 4...and at 8 ohms your amp would be down to like...100-something watts....to get the most, i would definitely say wire both your 15s in parallel(posi-to-posi...negi-to-negi) so they present a 4 ohm laod to your amp....bridge that bitch and plug em up...you have no fear of blowing the amp cuz you impedance is way high at a safe 4 ohms...

but im not 100% sure that your amp does 450 to each channel...but..ur better off wiring your subs together to get the lower ohm load...8 is a lil too high for my blood

I'm more worried about blowing out the subs than the amp. right now i have them wired seperately to each channel and the sound they put out is more than good enough for me. I just don't want to damage anything if I had it hooked up the wrong way.

Crow, I'm a CNC laser tech, and a microsoft certified tech on the side. and no i'm not ready to sell the 300zx, but you know what they say, everything is for sale for the right price.

if they're hooked up they way you like it, then go ahead! just dont put your gain all the way to max! thats how most people actually blow their subs...not because they have a amp thats too powerful, but because they have an underpowered amp and they CLIP (http://caraudio.brainbloggers.com/clipping-how-distortion-affects-sound-systems.html) the amps signal by turning they gain way up and burn out the voice coils...
so..check for distortion
