1997 chevy K1500 with the 5.7 and 4l60E....i am having problems with my tail light fuse popping it started about 3 days ago and i havent been able to find the short...i put new circuit boards in the tail lights...one did have a bad spot but it didnt fix the fuse problem ...any ideas possibly headlight switch ?? when the fuse blowed the first time i put a new one in and it lasted about a day then the second fuse about 15 minutes now it pops in about 2 minutes...i know its not good to keep putting fuses in and popping them but i havent had time to trace every wire yet and i figured i would see if their was an easier fix..... nothing has been added to the truck or changed electrically

if you have a trailer plug in the truck the wire may be the problem eg: damp or wet mud on broken wires or wet/damp mud or dirt in the plug. you could have a ground wire thats not grounded. this will normally have the signal lights flashing at twice the normal speed. just some food for thought. 463

I had the same problem. It ended up being a bare wire in the trailer wire harness. Replaced the harness & everything was fine.

something i have seen a few times was the wire behind the kick panel by the parking brake pedal, sometimes it gets chafed. may not be the problem, but an easy check besides sending it to the shop
