ok so i'm planning on gutting my precats and taking out the main cat.. yes i already know about emission laws and whatever. i don't have them here.
so anyway, then i was going to get the borla catback, but figured i could use the twin turbo version but i'm worried about it sounding like a damn fart can honda civic. i don't want it to sound raspy, because of the valves. would this happen if i used the tt exhaust??
i want a really nice throaty tone.

I believe you would get better performance out of the one made for the n/a setup. The reason for this being that you do want some back pressure. A very wide exhaust will actually hurt your performance. As far as how it sounds, I have never heard of someone putting the Borla TT exhaust on an n/a. I know people have taken the stock TT exhaust and put it on their n/a. From what I have heard about that is it helps out top end power but cuts shrort the low end power.

the reason i was thinking about doing it this way is because i want to do a TT conversion like within the next year.

Backpressure is overrated. The Borla NA exhaust isnt even really an upgrade over stock. It sounds no different and no power is really gained. TT Borla is the way to go. It may end up sounding a little raspy but if it does you can always add a resonator in place of the cat. ;)

just dont go bigger than 3" and i dont think you'll have and backpressure issues or noticable loss. How big is the TT Borla setup?

Its a full 3"

i think borla is just too darn expensive, and you don't have to worry about your car sounding like a fart can because it 's not a 4 cylinder. basically anything you put on will sound decent because of the specs of the engine and that basically determines how it will sound....you should just go to a muffler shop and get a custom setup which will run you at least half the price of the borla.... if your n/a go with 2.5 inch, if your turbo go 3inch

when i was using this forum to research, someone said just a straight through exhaust on the 3/s would have that vibration noise.
ok, well now 3sx has glasspacks. sooo would that sound good or bad on our cars guys? turbo or non.

Glasspacks NEVER sound good. Unless you want the crotch rocket sound, but you said you did not :-)
Go to at least two muffler shops and price what you want, it will be cheaper and specifically bent for YOUR car. Not the sport shops btw, the regular muffler shops will do it for cheaper.

THe DOHC's can sound "farty" if you do the wrong set up. You want a resonator of some sort. A glasspack will act as a resonator. So if you do a glasspack and a Magnaflow muffler it should sound bad ass.

hmmm...now my curiosity is sparked. You said to put the resonator where the cat is right? That wont ruin your flow?

resonators barely effect the flow while a cat has a giant honeycomb structure in the middle of it.

Bingo, a resonator does not affect flow at all.

I Like the sound of strate through exhaust on the TT models.. Here Is a video with my black VR4 before I took here down for some big time mods.. It has a 3"downpipe no cats.. Just listen to the sound..

RHD is not illegal to have. He did an aftermarket swap. The reason some of the RHD foreign cars cannot be imported to the US is because of other specs on the car that do not meet US requirements.

I personaly HATE borla exhaust.. and I dont like magnaflow.. but between the two magnaflow is better..
I would avoid the glasspack completely..

just fyi, I'm pretty sure Borla TT exhaust is only 2.8", which is why it provides next to no gain over a TT stock 2.75" catback. Me personally, I wouldn't ever pay so much for a catback. I have yet to see or hear a catback I'd pay $600-$2,000 for, when you can get a perfectly good one built for a few hundred. Just my .02

i see what you're saying. so if i go to a muffler shop, i can get a better exhaust than the borla -bigger diameter- for less.. i'm basically looking for a good exhaust that's going to give a great sound. would a muffler shop be able to give the same sound or better than the borla, flowmaster, etc?

piping is just piping. If you want a specific muffler/resonator/canister, bring it/them to the muffler shop and tell them the setup you want.

Ahh, the thread finally caught up to my thinking lol.
Seriously, a little muffler shop here will do the piping (and do it right) specifically for my vehicle for about $250. and they seem to have pretty cheep deals on high flow mufflers too actually. I wouldnt trust them with fabricating headers, but for a cat back I wouldnt go any other way. even the bolt on kits are a pain to put on without a lift, and I like to weld mine too. the shop does all of that for me!
