I have a 91 3k SL. last sunday i was driveing her,she was doing fine i came home then i was going to a christmas party and when i got out of the driveway she just died on me. i pushed it back to the car-port and I noticed the '' engine'' fuse was popped. I replaced the fuse and when I turn the key to on the fuse popped again I know its a short but where would it be comming from?

Have you done (or had done) any work recently? Have you done anything inside the steering collum? or maybye put in a new radio
If you havent done anything then it will be difficult to find the short, it shorts when you put it into acc not actually trying to crank the engine right?

I put a new radio in but that was like over 5 months ago way way before this problem, other than that no work was done on it recently

You may want to check behind the wireing for the radio anyhow. I hade one about a year ago that the wires had slipped out of the back and started touching and I had to replace the fuse.

EXACTLY! Take out the radio and thoroughly check all of the connections there, even if they look good, make sure that no wires are poking out, most liley though this isnt the problem because most of those wires would blow a different fuse.
after that, take apart the steering column (alright, how the hell do you spell that? it's driving me crazy and im at work without a dictionary! ugh).
there are four (i think) screws recessed into holes, takt them out and then pull the top and bottom halves apart. now you need to check all of the wiring in there, starting with those that are connected to the ignition. look carefully and make sure the wires are out of the way when you put it back together. if not there then look up underneath the dash, if not there then it may be time to head to the electrical shop. (or just bug stealthee for an answer

You are right. And it is column....www.dictionary.com.... my lifesaver many times. It could be the ignition switch are any number of wires there. You may also want to remove the lower dash piece under the steering column. Just pop out the rear wiper switch and the mirror dimmer switch and catch the two 10mm bolts there and then the two on the bottom pretty much exactly below them and drop it out of the way so you can see all of the wires. If you find something that you think needs replaced give me a hollar at I have a parts car out here. I got an ingnition switch and everthing. But if no luck there do what we all do ask Stealthee...lol
