I moved your post to be by itself. The other post was over 2 years old. Please do not attach new problems to old posts. Thanks.
Your problem iis more than likely where the wiper module is connected together with small clips. You can remove the clips and put silicone in ther and then install clips magain. Let it cure before driving.

Thanks for the infomation way2old. I finally stumbled onto the problem. Missing 2 feet of weather stripping between the cowl and hood. I was looking for the problem inside the dash, but thanks to your post which put me under the hood and the problem was obvious.

Hi. First time poster, here, but I've been surfing this site all day.
I have a 2000 Grand Marquis with the exact same problem in this thread. At highway speeds, especially driving into the wind, there is a loud shutter/vibration from the front driver dashboard, like under the window. Since it's been mentioned that there was some missing weather stripping under the hood, this seems to be the case on my car as well.
My question is what did you do to add the weather stripping, or should it be added at all as it seems it wasn't added at production for one reason or another. I think that I know what little plastic peice is shuttering against the window. Should I just put a peice of cloth between it and the window and call it a day, or should that weather stripping be added?

If its the same peice that he's referring to it would be the hood seal which runs across the cowling, all you have to do would be to remove it and replace it starting from the drivers side and retest it it. I had the same problem for 7 years.good luck

Well now that I'm back on campus, I won't have a chance to move the seal over to the drivers side. Before I headed out yesterday, I did end up putting a thin cloth between the plastic and the window where the vibrations occur. The 2 hour trip back to campus was quieter than ever...that is of course with the exception of my CDs playing :).

I have a 2000 Marquis and am experiencing the same problem with the noise behind the dash. At highway speeds above 45 50 mph. I checked the seal that everyone is mentioning and it appears that this is the way it comes from the factory. However, what's the clip or plastic part that everyone is speaking about and where is it located. We had the car at the shop on Thursday all day and they seem to think it's something to do with the throtle. Are their any pictures that you can share?
Thanks

I can't offer any pictures at the moment, but when the hood is down, you will see a black plastic at the bottom of the window. When the wipers are in the down position, they should rest on this plastic, too. There is just a slight gap between the window and the plastic. I filled it in with a little cloth where it was likely to touch the window with a little vibration caused by wind. It's been quiet at highway speeds ever since.

The seal in question is the hood seal ,when you lift the hood this seal runs from one side of the hood to the other side (normally) but the seal from the factory is short by about a foot and is positioned to the left when you look with the hood open, you can pull it up and off its track and reposition it to the right side and try it.
