Cant find any leak, but can smell antifreeze after running the vehicle on short or long trips. Have had the intake gasket at about 150000 kms, vehicle has 295000 kms on it.

WHre do you smell the odor? inside the car or outside?

Odour is coming from outside the car. There is nothing inside, and there are no visible leaks. The engine oil is not contaminated and the oil level is not rising.

As I understand the car has only 300 km after the overhaul....is it possible that spills that occured during the event are still "cooking" on hot engine parts? or it leaks only when under pressure and is evaporated right away on hot parts......and...can some other odors like sealant be confused with coolant smell....and...since you did not mention if coolant level was going down, I guess it is staying OK......
I'd rather like this to be innocuous...
If smell does not go away, I'd test it with the radiator cap released..in case it would not happen under zero pressure...

Sorry, edited the mileage to 295000.
How much excess rad fluid can stay in the intake cavities etc and how long would it take for it to burn off. Blew a rad hose mid December.
Also, last night engine temp went up higher than normal on this vehicle. Rad fluid checked and ok.

Cleaned edge of intake, ran the van and found a drip right at the gasket on the thermostat side. Will be replacing lifters while in there. Intermittent lifter noise. Comes and goes.

Thanks for your updates. If you can take photos of location of problem, "man at work", etc, all valuable pieces of info for future threads.

You may want to try some auto-rx for your lifter issue. I have great success using this product in my 97 Saturn and 92 BMW. I'm now using it in my 98 Transport.
