How many lefties do we have roaming these forums?

I'm a lefty. Heres just a few items about the superior left handers :D

Leftie Albert Einstein was called backwards. He learned to speak late and had problems in almost every subject in school. Don't give up if your left handed child learns slowly. Just keep Einstein in mind.

Among the Eskimos every left-hander was viewed as a potential sorcerer.

Zip Code 25251 is dedicated to left handers. Left Hand, West Virginia does allow right hander but everyone there is a true "Left Hander."

Can you name the fish with both eyes on the left side of it's head? The answer is at the end of this list.

James A. Garfield was the first left handed president of the USA. He was a bit of a show-off about the fact he was also ambidextrous. He would amuse visitors by simultaneously writing in Latin with one hand and Greek with the other.

Left-handers have an advantage in baseball. A lefty batter is a step closer to first base. A southpaw pitcher can keep an eye on the runner at first better then a rightie.

The term "southpaw" was started by Chicago sportwriters in the 1890's to describe left-handed pitchers. Pitchers in the Chicago stadium faced west towards home plate. Their pitching arm was on the side of town called the South Side.

Male southpaws outnumber female southpaws by a two to one ratio.

Because rudders on ancient sailing vessels were attached to the right side they would dock to the left. This became "port" side.

The acnient Greeks were one of the few people positive towards port-siders. Their word for left was "aristera" meaning 'the best'. This is were we get the word aristocrat.

Tuesday is lucky for lefties. It was named for the left-handed Scandinavian god Tiw. This is the best day to meet a southpaw.

The Kerr clan in Scotland believes their surname comes from the Gaelic "keir" meaning left. Many of their castles were built with counterclockwise winding stairways. This gives left-handed swordfighters the advantage in defending against right-handed attackers.

Napoleon Bonaparte and Josephine are probably the most famous left-handed couple in history. They married on March 9th. If two lefties get married this is the day I would recommend.

I almost became a lefty when I was 10 because I broke my right arm. But it didn't last.:( I wanted to be different.

I am "semi ambidextrous" with a predominance on Right-handedness. I still do a lot of things with my left hand that I am not able to do with my right as easily.

ambidextrous ... i can write mirrored and backwards and upside-down with both hands... just can't do cursive with my left... go figure

According to this poll 4/9 are left handed which is roughly 44%, 30% higher than the 14% statistic I heard of a while ago, I don't feel so elite anymore.

Im about as left handed as you get.

I also live with 2 other left handers, and 1 right hander.


Its interesting that very few right handers are voting in the poll, its either that or an extremly disproportinate number of left handers are active users of the OT forum.
In reality about 12% of the worlds population is left handed. (it ranges from 10-14% in differnt countrys)

I'm right-handed, but my dad and two of my brothers are lefties, totaling 3/8 of our family.

You forget that every time you open up this thread to look at other people's posts or reply to something, that's a view. I doubt there were that many 'unique views' of separate users.

I'm a lefty; I built the Skyline you see below mostly with my left hand. It's more precise than my right:)

I do all with my left hand besides strike the cruising pose while driving a car and while using the mouse. If you use your mouse "left handed" ie buttons set other way around. What happens when you get a message saying left click here?:confused:

I was thinking the same thing. I suppose that the Right handers need more help in how to vote properly. Seems to be a defect in the species. ;) :D

A while ago, I came to the decission that, as lefties, we probably have an advantage in driving. I know I feel much more comfortable with my leading hand on the wheel, doing the controlling of the car, and my right hand just operating the shifter, etc. I don't think I'd like it the other way around.

I broke my left wrist when I was 5 and I have never been good with my left so I just stick with my right :D

Im completley right handed, but there's things i couldnt do with my right hand that i could with my left, such as steering while i shift, fretting my bass, among other things. I'm left legged though; when I did track i was a hurdler and i was the only one that would go left leg forward. Kinda weird.

Im right handed, but i can only steer with my left hand....

I read somewhere that a lefty's life span is about five years shorter than a righty's.
