I hae had my 96 blazer for about 8 years now, last year I got struck by a snow plow which caused me to lose control and I rolled the blazer. Besides some cosmetic damage, the impact on the front wheel broke my front transfer case and I needed it replaced. Ever since the transfer case was replaced, the 4X4 did not work. It worked before the accident. When I hit the 4X4 button, nothing happens and the light does not come on in the dash. I checked the fues and they are fine, and I tested the puchbutton switches in the cab and they are working fine. I also check the vacum line and it seems to be ok as well. What could my problem be? The transfer case was used.

Welcome to AF.
When key is turned on does any shift buttons light up for a bulb test?
You can pull codes by grounding pin 13 on diagnostic connector and watch shift button light flashes if the lighst are working?
Post back any codes.

Hi.. I recently made a post about problems with my 96 blazer, however the blazer is actually a 95, my mistake. The blazer needed a new transfer case last year, ever since the transfer case was replaced the 4X4 does not work. The lights on the pushbuttons come on as normal when pushed, however the blazer does not lock into four wheel drive. I checked the buttons, and they do emit an utput voltage when pushd, so I know the buttons are working correctly. I also know for fact that the transfer case I bought did work in 4x4 because I tried it before I took it out of the old blazer, unless there is something in it that that got broken during the change. Are there any suggestions of things I can check to troubleshoot.. The blazer has an obdII type connector under the dash, and my obd2 code reader will plug into it but it does not seem to work.. I am guessing the blazer is not OBDII compliant. Any help would be appreciated.
