Please help, I lost my sisters last key fob. I purchased two replcacements on eBay but I can 't get them programmed. She has a 1996 (not a 1995 as I stated in the title, I couldn't edit it) GMC Jimmy SLT. Thanks

welcome to af. Drop the kick panel on the driver's side under the dash. You will see the keyless entry box. Using aligator clips or a bent paper clip, jump both posts on the red connector. Your doors will cycle and you will be in programming mode. Press and hold the OPEN button. When the locks cycle again, the remote has been programed. Do the same for each additional remote. when all remotes have been programed, remove the jumper on the red connector.

Sorry but I am having a little difficulty. I removed the kick panel and on the left hand side near the parking brake I can see the box. There are two sets of wires going to it. When I removed the plug housing with the 6 wires on the left hand side I can see 1 white, 1 blue, 1 red and 2 black wires. On the right hand side of the box the other plug housing has 2 orange wires, 2 black, 1 white and 1 tan. I know you said to jump the two red wires but there is only one, am I looking at the wrong box? Thanks for your help.

yes the keyless entry box is near the parking brake. there is a red connector/plug comming off of the box that is not connected to anything. that is what you stick a paper clip into to jump the two pins in that connector together to enter programing mode. hope this helps.

Ok I made a jumper and connected it to the posts that correspond to the red connector and the door locks do not cycle. The power doorlocks work fine. I checked all of the fuses and they seem to be ok. I think I am missing a step. Do I need to have the doors closed? Also do I make the jump before or after the key is in the ignition and should it be on accessory or run? I think I have tried all of the possible combinations but I must have skipped one. Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.

all doors need to be closed for this to work. also, the key doesn't have to be in the ignition.
