Could someone please help? Having problems with my coil pack smoking when i crank my truck have put 3 new coil packs on all smoked. I need help in knowing what could cause this and what i need to check? someone told me dead short was the cause but all grounds are grounded i think. What could it possiblely be?:banghead: any help will be appreciated!!! And before this coil pack problem my truck rolled back and hit a tree in the rear could that cause anything about the coil pack firing wrong??:screwy:

did you possibly pinch a wire in the area where the truck hit the tree. just a stab in the dark but that could cause a dead short in the wiring

Like ^ said, check all body and engine grounds and then check any grounds that go directly to the coil. I burned 3 coils around christmas doing a tune up on my friends 86 silverado and missed an important ground that stays in the distributor cap.
