Will the car run if I take it out? And if it will run, what will be different? This might be a dumb question but I'm just a beginner in the car world :naughty:

If there is a problem with your pcm you can replace it. I have a 97 grand prix and the whole insturment cluster quick working after taking it in found out it was the pcm. I did some looking and not to many places would work on it with out doing there own test and using a new pcm which cost like 400 bucks plus the labor and the testing. I did get one from the junk yard in town for like 100 bucks and talked to the dealer and they stuck it in. They said they could do it but would charge for labor and if it did not work or caused problems then they were not responisble for the damage. I took the chance and it worked. I did some calling and posting right here on this site before I did it. As long as you get one that matchs your pcm number the same it should work but will prob have to take to a dealer to reprogram to your car thats what I had to do.

he's probably wondering because he's considering sending it to zzp to be flashed and in the meantime still needs a car to drive.

Close haha. I was just wondering cuz I'm looking to get either the DHP or ZZP reprogrammed one and they had the option of sending mine in first so that I wouldn't have to put that $100 deposit down but looks like I won't be doing that since I can't drive without it.

I would price pcm's out at a junkyard for your car and then send them that one to be flashed. That way you will still have your origonal in case something goes wrong. Couldnt hurt to have an extra PCM lying around.
