i am dealing with an 03 silverado 1500 4wd 5.3. just put all new rotors and pads on. made a huge difference. i noticed all brake lines were incredibly rusted. anyone out there replaced their's yet? what size are they? 1/4 or 3/16. i have been freaked out since a recent near miss collision when the truck did not stop. while braking. any help on brake line kits would be appreciated.

I have heard of some people who live in snowy areas where lots of salt is put down having problems with rusted brake lines and have to replace them. No problem here in Texas though.

Usually the rear lines are 3/16. we do them all time up here in northern NYS, but not on a 2003. The replacement lines are coated with a corrosion proof coating, just ask for them when the time comes.

2000 sil i had this brake line rust problem on drivers side until i extended the inner plastic fender wall down 3-4inches just forward of shock to rear where my mud flap is. this eliminated all road debris from blasting the brake lines. also keeps tranny area cleaner. used rubber roofing and secured with rivets s/steel and washer back up.rubber is mounted on engine side of fender wall. this december we broke the all time snow fall and with all that, my brake lines have not seen any road crap.......
