Well since the preview post option completly lost my first attempt at this post I guess I will try again (I HATE COMPUTERS) anyway..................
This is the project I currently have on my table, I am buiilding this one for a customer to his specs exactly, including motor swap (or should I just say install) Turbo, intercooler, wings west body kit and wing, Kaminari hood, Sparco milano seats, nos bottle, stereo system and converting the RH dash to left hand drive (pain in the ass). Here are the most current pics, most of the work now is going into making the turbo and engine bay fit together well, I am trying to make the engine bay look more like a civic than the integra it came out of. let me know what you think?

02-18-2003, 01:04 AM
Yeah i was wonderin the same... did you make the hood yourself?.. and you have your own customers, im impressed!

Also how'd you make the turbo??

ozstrider
02-18-2003, 01:25 AM
Im also intrigued by the hood.
And where do you get NOS bottles? Or do you have to make them? And if so....How?

flyonthewall
02-18-2003, 05:12 AM
Sweet! The ITR engine swap works well with these coz its a small car, i mean with the engine being 1/25 scale!

I made the hood out of scrap plastic and putty, same with the nos bottle, I just need thick enough tubes of styrene to make the bottles.
as far as my "Customers" I have people hitting me up to build models for them to their specs, they find my website and then contact from there, pretty cool set-up I think.

Jay: u evver consider making a lot of kits like that for certain cars? kinda like FOTW does?

I need to figure out a cost effective way of molding copies of the original kits I build. I can pretty much make whatever kit you desire only thing is it can take a hell of alot of time to complete depending on how involved the kit is........There are not that many people I have come across that are willing to pay the $300-$500 it can cost to put 2-3 months of work into one of these crazy custom jobs. But for the few that want something custom and a one of a kind replica of their car they will pay what it is worth, because I will deliver. Maybe I will be able to start making resin copies and that would cut my price down significantly, anybody out their got what I need to make these copies?? I have a wings west CRX to start with, then I can copy this Del Sol and also my green SiR II H/B w/ the ITR swap.

Well damn, where were you a couple days ago? j/k I already finished the conversion on the dash tonight and it came out pretty well. Though I still may be interested in any extra Del Sol parts you may have, i.e. Lenses, decals, maybe your LH dash (it may look better than my conversion, let me know what U think?

I still have a little work left on the dash and the black is just a base coat so it to will look better when I am done.

It's hard to keep track but I buy a new tube about every 3 months or so. I don't have as thick a layer on the finished product, I just build up more than i need to make the desired shape and angle I want. I am hoping to have this one ready for paint by the beginning of March, we will see.

But if ya want it pmme and let me know if ya have any little crap to swap.. Later Rick S

hella observant! I did not even catch that, though I did not have a LH dash to compare it to. I may hit you up later to see what you have, maybe we can swap. for the most part I think it looks convincing so far.

I have not done anymore to it yet, the last pic of it is pretty much how it will look in the end. I just need to smooth it some more and maybe add a few gauges. When this is all done I will have all kinds of pics on both this forum and my website.

WHEREEEEEEEE??????

You can find them all over Ebay, just search in the toys and hobby section and search for 1/24 honda or better yet...Del Sol. I just looked a few minutes ago and I saw like 15-20 different auctions for them, I think there are 3-4 different versions also. All curbside of course, no motors here, you must use the Civic Si or ITR from Revell.

Looks terrific except the rear spoiler needs to be redesigned. If you look at that car, it has three hoops going on, the windshield frame, the rear bar and then your spoiler which doesn't flow or integrate with the front two hoops. My 2 cents for free. :)

my hat comes off for you my friend,
thats a great job you've done, captured the lines and shape of the WW kit perfectly! amazing work!

only one question tho, to the rear of the side skirts, theres a black area there that seems to be empty?? whats up with that?

Thanks, but remember I am building this car for a customer to HIS specs exactly. The wing is a dead ringer for the WW wing in 1:1 scale and it is what he wanted so I delivered. The "black" spots in front of the rear wheels are actually cut outs for the dual exhuast (Saleen style) to come through. I did hate cutting up the side skirts but again I am just building what the guy wants. Thanks for the comments though.:D

Looks pretty good. Hard work has been put into this model but and I think you did a good job but the front section looks a little eh eh but overall I think it looks good.

And 1 more thing the manifold looks scorched.

I think you could have done better because I think if you were building it for youeself. Because you guys know when you build a model for yourself you do everything you possibly can to satify yourself.
I also think you could do better if you were building it for yourself because you would have all the time in the world to build for yourself, but for a customer you can't take that long. I'll shut up now. :D

I think it looks pretty good.
