Hi, Im Doug...And I just registered on this forum.

A few days ago I bought a 1991 Firebird. v8 305, Automatic tranny.
The car has 265k miles, guy I bought it from says it was rebuilt about 2 years ago, so it has about 30k miles on the new engine.

Only thing wrong with it is it needs a windshield, and a new radiator.

The car runs very strong, and shifts smoothly.
Best part is, I got it for $200 from a friend's neighbor, because thier son went to prison.

I plan to rebuilt it, put headers, make it carburated, and use it for street/strip use.
This is my first car, and for the pirce I couldnt pass it up, being I like working on cars. (My grandpa unfortunetly sold his 1968 Firebird 400, not too long ago.)

I like working on a carburator. So does my grandpa. I know I'll burn more gas, but I like the fact that I can tune it to where ever I want, and know how to do it.

I dont know squat about EFI.

Also, do you know of a place where I can find stock replacement parts?
Like seats? The moron that owned the car before me put a "$2,000 Euro Style Seat" or so they say, as the driver seat....It doesnt work, and its all torn up.

hell yeah man, welcome..and nice find...bad ass only 200 bucks! im trying ot think of where i located seats for maro's, if i remember ill pass u the info, but im sure one of this ass clowns in here will know, we do have a great group of people who knows where to find great stuff! car looks great for a 200 dollar car, niiiiice!

They said it was from a 2003 bmw or something like that. Im taking it out because it looks so tacky in the car, with the other seats being stock.
I found on Craigslist a complete set (Front and Back) of seats from an 88 Formula, for $150. im going to get those.

I went to the junk yard today, and picked up a windshield for $75, and bought a radiator from Advanced Auto, $117.94, 125.01 out the door. Going put every thing in today, and go to another junk yard and look for some dash/console pieces.

Im also thinking about getting a different engine. My friends tell me a 350, others have told me find a 389 out of an old car....

What can I do to this 305 to get some good power out of it? A price range would help too.

Engine is a 305 LO3 TBI. The engine as it sits, starts up instantly almost, has good oil pressure, and each cylinder has 100-120 lbs of compression. Would it still be wise to change the rings and all the gaskets/seals in the engine?

Also, I forgot in the other post, I got some new rims for the car too.

My friend just bought my other friends 1987 Monte Carlo SS. He Took off the wheels that were on it (Centerlines) and threw a set of American Racing Torq Thrust II's on it.

I hate to flood you guys with questions,

But what cam should I run for a rough idle? Also what exhaust?
I want the car to be "loud" and sound really aggressive. (something that will make rice burners STFU)

Also, Would an idler gear be worth spending the money on?
