OK, here's the deal....I'm the type of person that will believe it when I see it. I've never used ebay mainly cause I don't trust it. I'm not too happy with the idea of sending someone my money and then being fucked and not sent the part. So if you fellas have used it;

How reliable are the parts? Quality?
What's the wait time?
Good sellers you know of for 2G parts?
How does PayPal Work?

Thanks in advance people...Shit....Dustin, was this thread supposed to be in the Classifieds? If so, sorry man:icon16:

eBay tends to have good quality things for items like exhaust and intercooler kits. Unless you are specifically buying name brand things like manifolds etc... then i hear they have a tendency to suck, but I really can't comment on that first hand.

I just ordered my full exhaust from eBay and posted a thread on the downpipe I got this morning: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=5569498#post5569498

You can't ask what the quality is and shipping time and all that jazz. You can buy planes from ebay. You think that's going to be cheap quality?

There are some people who make things and then market it under a name brand item, which is what you have to watch for. But for the most part, they'll tell you. They may use a name that's close but doesn't exist, like "Greddy Type RS with a side of gravy". If you're not sure, search the internet for the names and see what's what. Also, many companies put warnings on their sites about "remakes" of their products. Show you what to look for.

Shipping also depends on when the person gets their ass to do it. Most places are businesses and will send it out pretty quickly. Others, like me, may wait til the weekend to do it. Again, it varies.

I have had no problems with eBay at all. Although one of my guys bought a car, dropped $4000 and never got a car or his money back. I did a search for the shipping company, and it came up with DONT BUY ANYTHING THAT USES THIS SHIPPING COMPANY BC OF SCAMS and so on. Just do research. Also pay attention to the sellers feedback. High, positive numbers means they're doing something right.

OK, well how does PayPal work?

Paypal is a great way to pay for items especially since once the payment is sent, then you have proof that you paid it when compared w/ Money Orders all you have is the receipt but you could lose it. Paypal becomes much like a bank account, if you were to sell something on eBay when the person pays w/ paypal, the money is then sent to your paypal account and you can then either use it to purchase something on ebay or you can send the money directly to your bank account. Now when you buy something on ebay, there are many different ways to pay the seller, such as
-Money Order
-Cashier's Check
-Check
-Paypal
Now pay attention to every item you look it for price of shipping, insurance (not always provided), and what payment options are available. Normally an item will be shipped and received within a week and a half as of the end of auction, but that also depends on when they receive payment. Paypal is the quickest way to pay FTW, fast and easy. And as for quality, it all depends on what your buying, I wouldn't buy a timing belt off eBay or even a cherry picker unless you check out the brand first. Just be cautious, if you have a concern over an item on ebay, just post a link and someone will help you as much as they can.

Thanks Ned, One more Q, can you return shit you don't or that doesn't fit? Or is it dependant on seller?

Dependant on seller. Most are pretty strict about it. Like only if item is defective out of the box. Just have to read what they say.

The only thing I like is the prices of ebay. Is paypal trust worthy?

Paypal is more trust worthy than using cash in the stores. It's up there with all the major credit card companies.

This is a pretty general discussion, I think this is a good subforum for it.

Also, many sellers provide you w/ a tracking number via email, so you can track your package so you can estimate when you will get it. Paypal FTW definetly, I tried the MO thing and it was such a hassle and I've noticed that everything I've ever sold on ebay, has been pay for via Paypal.

Used Paypal. I prefer it whenever there is the option to use it so I don't have to enter my CC number all the time. Places like extremepsi and slowboy racing give you the option to use it too.

All right, this sounds good. I'm gonna give it try with Tunin pros, see how that goes. Anymore advice?

I beg to differ. I sold my old dell XPS extreme on ebay for 900.00 and the person e-mailed me they recived it fine , it powers up , boots and runs smoothly , 3 days later they filed a claim against my paypal saying item didnt even turn on when recieved , screen was broken and had now charging cable.

Even through email verification , and hours of fighting paypal on the phone , they refunded his ass the 900.00 and I was out of another laptop :/

Paypal is only as trust worthy as your are willing to trust them. People who do over a certain amount of $$$ a month via paypal transfers tend to run into problems with them and their 'security' department. IMO - Paypal = Thieves.

Not to mention they hit you up for your own money when you transfer it.

Joe , do some searching and read up on peoples bad experiences with paypal before you decide to give them C.C. info or bank info let alone your personal identification info such as name , address , phone # , SSN , etc.

I've had many good experiences with ebay and been scammed once. So I guess its just use at your own risk.

Never had a problem but I generally buy from the eBay "stores". Not some random hero with a computer. If you don't want to use paypal most people also accept money orders or a check.

YEah my buddy at work said PayPal is the most secure way for online transactions. I'm probably gonna try it out, maybe with a set of strut bars, dunno.
