Swirl marks from Tamiya compound?

Am I using the compound right? After polishing, its really shiny...but i can see swirl marks in the finish. Whats wrong?

Assuming you waited for the paint to fully cure and you're using a 100% cotton soft cloth, try some tamiya wax to fill in the swirls.
