94 LeSabre Dash trunk release button

I see from an earlier post the trunk release has a relay in the fuse block, Could that be my problem ?.
My remote on the Keychain will open the trunk, But the button on the dash won't, (the dash button was added by a dealer, after we bought the car in Feb/95)Does the fact that the remote works rule out the relay, TIA it's been a great car.

Take the trunk release switch out and jump the wires and see what happens, basic diagnostics.
