side air bag light?

ok, my girlfriend has a 01 accord EX coupe. 4 cyl. the side air bag light comes on and goes off periodically. used to be I could just turn it off and the light would go out when I restarted it. now I turned the car off 3 times and everytime the light went out for just a second and came right back on, and never turned off like it used to? can you run codes for an srs system or not because its a safety thing.

There were several years that had known problems with intermittant and false SRS lights caused by a few different problems, including water leakage...I'd ask a dealer about known issues before spending a lot of time trying to figure it out, may help you find it faster...I know this is for the front airbags, but I know I've seen complaints with side SRS light also...just can't find it at the moment...
