Hi guy's newbie here , the wife got this car from a buddy of mine and it has a problem .
lot's of dash lights stay on , my friend took it to the dealer earlier and they replaced all the grounds . they say that it must be the ECBM, but the part has 2 part #'s on it .
1 for the brake control and 1 for the ECM , also was told the part cost 600$ , geezs, is this true? and where can I get this part ? dealer or somebody have these or repair them?
I have also been told that it is only on the 2000 model.
Can somebody help me or giude me in the right direction?
Great site and thanks in advance

Welcome to AF.

Which dash lights are you getting and what are your symptoms? If you are referring to the Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBTCM) indicating an ABS braking or traction control system problem it is part of the ABS pump/motor assembly but can be replaced separately. There is a shop that rebuilds these or you can get a used one from a salvage yard or Ed Morad Parts Company on EBay.

Thanks for the welcome and Merry Christmas to you.
The light cluster on left side of dash .
show's service vehicle soon light,
anti-lock light,
security light.
and the trac-off light shows on ,cannot turn off-on by switch ...
the place where the driver info is displayed doe'snt work anymore ....
sometimes 1 or all lights will come on ..
now only the wipers run on FAST ...

another thing is the driver's rear door is locked shut , I have taken door panel off and cannot get the rod to unlock it to move , do I have to unbolt the hinges ?
beginning to think this was a bad buy car is in great condition and only 118.000 miles
Buddy say he will pay for half of the part , still think's it's in the ecbm or ecm
thanks for the help

It sounds like you have more than one or multiple issues. On the ABS problem did you get it scanned with an ABS capable scanner preferably a GM Tech II? Any DTCs stored should reveal whether you actually have an EBTCM module issue.

On the rear driver's side passenger door you should be able to get to the rod that goes to the door latch assembly with just the door panel off. If you can open the door from the outside but not from the inside make sure the child security lock is not engaged.
