Where are all the pro-war demonstrations?

Reading the papers over the past few days,I couldn't help noticing all the anti-war demonstrations....Huge gatherings, hundreds of thousands at each.......Berlin,London,Melbourne,Bankok,Buenos Aires, and so on.....Even at the very heart of America, just a stone's throw from Ground Zero.......Protestors shoulder to shoulder along New York's First Avenue for 20 solid blocks.

And yet,not a single demonstration internationally of support for the U.S. position.Even the British and Australian public have indicated in polls that they would rather see the situation resolved by diplomacy.....

Can the armchair generals who want a fight not muster enough bodies to make a decent parade?

They would get their asses kicked by all the anti-war protestors:D

Mind warping propoganda is all that is. :D Seriously though, I don't recall seeing many pro-war gatherings for anything. But every conflict will have it's opposing protests.

Don't know what you are reading, but you're wrong! It's not hundreds of thousands, it millions. 3 million in rome, 1,3 million in London, and about 4 million across Spain.

I'd be delighted if those figures are correct.Interestingly enough, the New York authorities 'declined to estimate' the numbers at a huge rally on the weekend.....how convenient.

i don't think anyway is going to have a pro war demonstration since the governments in Britain and the US have made their minds up and are going to war. The demostrations won't make even the slightest bit of difference and no one is going to demonstrate for something that is already going to happen.

Lets see - a few million protesting the war. Billions not. Why should their be a pro-war rally? No need to be.

Interesting concept.Assume that everyone who doesn't get out on the street is pro war..........how ridiculous,Yogs,is that the best you can do?

Unlike the Gulf war of 1991,this conflict does not have any popular support outside of the United States. The enthusiasm with which mr Bush is determined to send the troops in is sickening.Given the choice between deposing Saddam Hussein and deposing George Bush,I know which one I'D pick for a safer world.

Never said that everyone who didn't go to the streets is for the war. However a few million out of several billion worldwide is hardly a major outcry.

I already knew you'd rather cast your lot with Saddam.

I'm getting just a bit sick of this crap,Yogs.I am not in favour of Saddam at all.I believe that if he were assasssinated tommorrow, the Middle East would be a safer place.Unfortunately I am beginning to believe the same about the moron that you elected President.

I agree whole hearted with that sentiment, with the exception of the statement "the moron that you elected President".

This implies he was elected by US voters, when he was in fact brought into power by the electoral college, even when there was evidence he had lost the vote in Florida.

And all the Republican party could do was complain that the Democrats were "crybabies" for getting upset when the election was stolen...

The Florida count (and recount) had Bush getting more votes. The left just can’t believe that it happened and incessantly whines about losing. Crybabies? Of course they were. I dont see that as a complaint, but a statement of fact.

I voted for Bush. I will vote for him again in the next election. He will win. You guys will piss and moan like little children. I do find some humor in that.

T - You as much as said “Given the choice between deposing Saddam Hussein and deposing George Bush,I know which one I'D pick for a safer world. “ So I commented that I know where you cast your lot. I do not maintain that you like Saddam or support what hes done. I am sorry that I didn’t make that more clear.

If Bush wins the election, I won't care. It doesn't matter whether the Republicans or the Democrats get in, they both have the same agenda.

Who does "you guys" refer to? I'm a Canadian, and a critic of the US political system in itself, so I will criticize whoever wins, not piss and moan. I find a common theme in Republican rhetoric is to group anyone who does not agree with you into categories.

Apparently, I'm a socialist, a liberal, a Democrat, and I love Bill Clinton... This is at least what I've been told in this forum, when in fact, my political beliefs are that the majority of people are not fit to choose who rules them, and that the right to vote should be something you earn, through demonstrating intelligence, and at least an informed opinion of what is at stake. The fact that elections in the US are decided by gun control and who wants to do what with health care drives my point home.

I despise the Democrats as much as the Republicans, and Bill Clinton was a monster. A monster with good PR. He played the sax and got caught up in pointless scandals while he furthered the bipartisan agenda against Iraq.
