Race Track Diorama?

Has anyone built a Race Track diorama? I have 5 DTM kits and I think it would be cool to build a diorama of a corner of a track or something. I have never built a diorama so I do not know what I would need.

something like these would be cool.

jay wanted to build one of Laguna Seca (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75423&highlight=laguna+seca+diorama)

Of course it'd be humongous!!! The problem with race track dioramas is unless you make it adequately size, you're fitting too many cars onto a narrow piece of track, which doesn't look as cool.

I think you can find info on Scale Auto Magazine's web page. I want to biuld a Japanese mountain pass for my Drift machines. http://www.scaleautomag.com

I was thinking that same thing. So I may go with just two kits battling it out. Mercedes vs Opel.

Black grinding paper makes a nice track.

race tracks are alot easier than, lets say, rally dia's mainly because of their simplistic nature. All you'll probably need are a few sheet of styrene; for the road. Some putty or plaster for the curbs. Some grass type stuff (like made by evergreen). And of course the type of glue that works best with hold grass or gravel type materials to styrene. the hardest part of the diarama is, if you are going to do a slope, getting the slope to look proper and the second hardest part is getting the road texture down and including details like skidmarks and rubber tracks and such (can be obtained with thinned blacks or airbrushing)

My other suggestion would be to look up FAQ's or Tutorials for War/Battle diaramas, often times they will include techniques for roads, thin grass, or gravel.

Hope that helps

I too would be very interested in knowing how you built this one, as I'm now interested in doing one myself. That looks amazing. I'm still like  when I see it. Maybe you could start a tutorial thread on it. That'd be sweet.

is not to make it in 1/24, but 1/32 instead.

Revell are releasing quite a few 1/32 2002 DTM cars: two Audi tt-s, two Merces and two Opels.

Click me!!! (http://www.revell.de/cgi-bin/kat/katalog.pl?cmd=overview&KOSCHL=04&grp=9998&modellsuche=&showall=true&lang=de&kat=modell&sort=mass&page=1&frei=&ps_KOSCHL=&SWO=&MAS=&mas=32)

O man. Maybe I will make a 1/32 scale one. Those Revell kits are awesome. I have been waiting forever for the TT kit to come out. And that Mercedes is awesome too. I was hoping someone would release the decal kit for the Tamiya kit but I'll get that instead.

does anyone have any idea when these kits will be coming out?

That is pretty cool. The one I want to build will be a bit bigger than that.

does anyone know when those Revell kits are coming out?
