A B16 coming to an 89 SI...

Hey guys, I finally got my refund checks from school and tax returns... I will be ordering a B16 for my car this week...
Just wanted to keep you guys posted as it comes along.
Ima post some pics of what I have bought so far...

Of course you need mounts, so I got Hasport...

some type r goodies i came across... intake mani and cams..

skunk2 cam gears for the integra type r cams... wish i coulda found the civic cams but i got a great deal on the teggies so they'll work for now..

I also got the hasport shift linkage; integra radiator hoses, throttle cable and rear motor mount bracket...
I will keep you guys posted as the swap comes along more...

really? :confused: i thought there prices on hasport stuff wasnt too bad...

Their mount kits are pretty cheap, but a lot of the other stuff there does seem rather expensive.

is that in the 5th gen civic??? what other mods do you have? did you change anything else in the drivetrain or just the cams?

type-r valves and a JDM type-r tranny w/ lsd. The tranny is not in yet

Bro they're asking 600 + for mounts! Thats alot! You fan find them for around 350-400. Like www.thepartstrader.com or www.hondaclassifieds.com. I think www.hasport.com sells them cheaper.

Damn i looked at the wrong ones. It included cable tranny. I feel stupid hehe:p

The rest like that cams and stuff are pretty pricey though.

the only things i got from the hybrid garage was the mounts and shift linkage... everything else i bought from classified ads...

I recently ordered a B16A complete changeover from hmotorsonline.com (included hasport mounts {$350} and linkage {$50}). Total, with shipping, was ~$1800.

This brings the total to nearly $3200 (1400 + 1785). Lesson: new parts WILL cost more than the JDM changeover. On the positive side, I should have a car that rides/drives/feels like new. Certainly better than your average 12 year old econobox!

i was thinking bout ordering my motor from them too? how are they with service???
as for the hoses and such, went to my local acura parts dealer...for upper and lower hoses, throttle cable and rear bracket...total was about 100 bucks, cant find receipt but its about there

hey dude - I am not jNYCe5 - however...here is my source for OEM Acura and Honda parts that marked001 turned me on to. I used them when rebuilding my ZC this past summer.

I spoke/ordered w/ Steve (the boss) @ hmotors; he was very helpful/knowledgeable. One very important thing he did mention was that LSD equipped changeovers are on a 1-2 month backorder. So if you are waiting for Spring to order a changeover and you want it to be LSD.... ORDER NOW-- DO NOT WAIT. He also said that he is doing brisk business: I called on a Wednesday and he had already sold 27 B16A changeovers that week!

I'll make further observations about hmotorsonline.com after the car is up and running...

As far as OEM parts sources, I thought acuraautomotiveparts.org/hondaautomotiveparts.com were a bit expensive (see above) even w/ discount (they were the source for all the parts I listed above).
