How much does a stripped 91 miata weigh?

How much does a stripped 91 miata weigh? Can it get lower than 2,000 lbs? air conditioner removed along with the entire stereo system, only seats, pedals, shifter, steering wheel, and the dash intact.

You should be able to get the 1991 Miata under 2000 lbs. Minimum weight for the Spec Miatas is 2200 lbs with driver and 80 lbs of roll cage, and most of the specs run ballast to bring them up to weight. This is also with the factory hardtop, which adds about 15-20 lbs over the convertible top (removed in SM rules).

Just for your information, there are prototypes for a lot of carbon fiber parts being made. There's a CF hardtop which is like 7 or 8 lbs. This guy is also working on CF door panels. Hoods are available too, but the hood is already very light. There is also a CF trunk lid. If you want the link, let me know and I'll go find it, it was a thread in the Miata.net forums.

As for achieving sub-2000 lbs, I'm pretty sure you could do it.
