My Revell 240z project

It is a Datsun 240z and I am makin it look like a racing one that you would see at the track...it has the thick tires in the back and cobra rims in the front...i also drew the numbers on the windsheild so it looks like the racing numbers u get at the track.

Fairly good kit, but It needs alot of sanding and the clear parts dont pint well. What color are you going to paint it, I just sprayed mine blue.

That's a very nice lookin car. I would get one but I have to many kits. have you thought about putting in a skyline engine? Or maybe a 300zx engine?

HAHA! Hell yeah the old Datto! I want to get this kit, but I think its US only :confused: :( I had plans that included a engine transplant for mine.

i dont have any engines left only the 1 v8 from a model that broke...otherwise i would do a swap...and i have no idea for color any ideas???

i just got mine form ebay on friday. lots pieces will need heavy work to make it fit nicely. im going to sand all of the lettering off to replace it with decalls. kool car model but its too bad its a revell. plus side = engine. i will make a thread once my digicam is working and i plan on starting on it. im thinking tamiya German Gray that i just ordered from HLJ. any other suggestions?

I would do it red like on the box. But a darker red, the one on the box looks like a lame red.

i was considering that too any suggestions in tamiya code i love their sprays? maybe i will save the german gray for the gto TT on the way or the gti

those are the decals the ones that go down the sorta center of the car (kinda offset) aer the ones that say 240z

WHat decals are you going to put on, Im just putting the ones that say 240Z on.

i think im gunna put most of em on except for maybe not all of the seat decalls those are kinda silly. hey guys are you gunna shave of the writng b4 decaling or acre you going to apply the decals over the raised 240z and datsun writing. im not sure what im going to do and id like to know what you think is best

Agreed. Use the R32 engine with R34 wheels. The color on the car now is good for it.

Swap a Skyline engine into it (SR20 i think?)! That would be h0t!

Wow! That kit's molds are almost 30 years old, and they still produce a pretty clean model!!
That kit was introduced about 1973 along with the recently re-released Datsun 510 as race-cars, and a VW Bug. It was one of the better Revell offerings of the time and seeing this makes me want to get one myself!

Your version looks killer and I agree, an R32 engine and wheels would look awesome on it!!

correct it is a pretty good model for a revell. damn i didnt knwo the molds were that old though thats kinda cool. i got mine for pretty cheap on ebay and the guy i baught it from got it to me ina few days.

Wow 30 years old, almost as old as the car itself.

Looks good so far.

Although I think you should try and keep the mods within what was available in that era, but its you model and I must admit, the mags look pretty sweet.

I will happily do an r32 engine swap is sum1 wants to sell/give me an engine to do it with :D :D :D ....ANyone wanna?

Here are a couple pix of it painted silver (no clear yet..maybe never clear)...the hood dont fit rite yet and the spoileris just held on w/ tape for the pix...enjoy;)

try holding the spoiler on with some blue tack or whatever its called, so that the view wont be obstructed with that tape.

on the other hand its an awesome kit done by a great builder, keep it up

my kit arrived,havent tested a lot,but how is the fitting?:)

the hood is kinda wierd fitting thats why it is open in all the pix :D

It was discovered recently by some import racers that gt wings on drag cars cause too much drag. Import racers figured out the the wings that run off the trunk are more ideal. I'll try to find a pic later, I'm at school right now!

Making that run-off wing would be very simple, you just need some styreen sheets...

in my opinion the wing doesnt fit with this car. But overall, this is stunning!! I have a video of this car somewhere, the guy is pushing it to the limits :D

Yeah it's true that there are REAL gt wings that are meant for downforce, but they STILL are'nt good for drag racing :D . Just cleanly break that wing off, and see if you can make a run-off wing, but it's entirley your choice :)

I would like to see how yours looks when it is finished. I put mine aside until I can see how a few others are doing thiers I want it to be like a street race car.

the model comes with a nice little stock spoiler. the little lip kind found on some of the models and on older bmw's and the like.

Personally I would have dropped the wing.. I've seen so many without it.
