Usually grinding is the drivers fault, hand too slow for the fast foot.

not really. third gear is usually the first gear to go out in honda trannies if it grinds every time than your tranny might be going out. you should try redline mtl tranny fluid or that gm whichever u want, both are very good. if that dont work your gonna have to take it in to fix the synchros.

Thats because GM syncromesh is for AT trannies, not manuals ;) Who put that in there?

I'm running GM Syncromesh in my Y1. It substantially cutback on the amount of grinding that I got into 2nd and 3rd. It's $17/quart and worth every penny of it imho

Ok there is a guy in my town that rebuilds honda trannys he always uses GM sychromesh Fuild. He also will warrenty the trannie for 25,000 miles is you use GM fluid. So my thought is if he is warrenting them for 25,000 miles there must be something he knows cause it would cost him a buttload if all these trannys came back cause they where bad from using the fuild.
Oh ya since the second week Of owning my civic I have used this fluid It was grinding before but about 2 days after I put in the GM fluid it doent grind anymore from 1st - 2nd Just my 2centz

Lucas oil wins hands down! I looked at there demmo at a booth at hot imports and they had every kind of oil there... It was 3 little wheel's the one on the bottom has a little lever you spin, must of the oils barley got to the second wheel (The oil is traveling upwards on the wheels) Redline and a few others made it to the third wheel like maybe 3 or 4 TRUE synthetic brands... Lucas oil isnt actauly a sinthetic oil at all... LOL, thats the trippy part cause usualy synthetic is lighter and able to move faster and lubricate better and hold heat better (Temp resistance) The lucas oil was spining off the top wheel and splatering on the top of the display! thats what I'm puttin in next time!
