Give him a chance!

Some good songs:

50 Cent - Wangsta
50 Cent - In Da Club
50 Cent - Places to Go
50 Cent - Till I Collapse

there are no more gangsta's, that died after The USA let alcohol be legal again, theres a lot of african american and white peopel that think just cuz they have a gun and a knife that they are a "gangsta"

If any one is a gangtsa they ahve to be at least 100 years old. last time i checked 50 is not 100

I'm sick of 50 cent. I haven't heard any of his music but I'm already sick of him, its just 50cent this 50 cent that. Grrrr.

Tupac, Notorious BIG, all those other wannabes, were as far from gangsters as you can get. They got a gun and a knife, wooohoo, means they're a fucking thug not a "gangsta". Look the word up in the dictionary. I hate rappers who go around in these $100K cars covered in gold then go singing about how life is so hard in the ghetto.

...back to the 50 discussion..i think he is a really good artist but i think he is kinda commercialized ..he's everywhere..which is good for him but he will turn out like all those other people that made huge money and were over publisized and then they will turn out to be no bodies in 2 years

rap sucks. period. Tupac - sure he was an alright artist. a "gansta"? hell no. and BIG certainly wasn't, he was just some fat fuck who followed Puff Daddy around trying to mooch. just because those 2 are dead doesn't make them any more "gangsta" then any other rapper (but that's mostly because all other rappers aren't "gangsta" either).

btw Spudtuner, SOAD and 50 Cent are completely different forms of music, so it's hard to really say that SOAD are way better then 50 Cent could ever hope to be, because somehow i doubt 50 Cent is aiming to be a popular rock band...

a gangster - a person that is involved in organized crime. vastly present in the '20s and '30s. NOT a rapper. :D

Gangster...Career criminal.Sources of income - extortion, contract killing,large-scale drug smuggling, protection rackets.Income is NOT generally derived from recording contracts.Operates in a large group such as the Mafia, the Triads,or,more recently,Eastern European crime syndicates.Sizeable income from these sources, allowing for hobbies of buying judges, acquiring large arsenals of illegal firearms, and hostile takeovers of other gangsters' business.Hobbies do NOT include making excruciatingly bad recordings of their grudges thinly disguised as music.

some of you are saying that a gangster is someone who is involved in orgnaized crime..would that make the people that KILLED big and 2pac gangsters??

As someone who listens to rap AND rock(I like both :flipa: ) perhaps I can share my insights:

Gangsta in terms of rap culture is somewho who is....a typical rap star I guess. They throw around terms like gangsta, thug etc etc. to be cool.

Just like they say the have a "big six" when theyre rapping about a V12 powered Benz S600.

BTW 50 cent is ok his voice is kinda weird though....

Also SOAD is too hard for me, there stuff sounds reatrded....it goes from acoustic to hard rock and theyre lyrics make as much sense as someone speaking in tounges.

Then again theyre new album cover is pure genius.

A gangster is, quite obviously, someone that is involved in a GANG. The suffix -ster denotes a member of something, while the root word is gang. In the 20s they were usually called mobsters, once again mob -ster.

Rappers are not gangsters, they're rappers, but I will have to agree with De$i that the definition of gangster has changed with the times. It's not exactly easy to shoot up a couple restaurants and get away with it these days.

Rappers simply glorify the gangster life, much like newspapers and radio programs of the 20s did, and like it was then, you get a lot of people that want to enjoy that life because of it's glorification.

As for SOAD, they aren't bad, but they aren't my favorite band. Good music for spirited driving however, Innervision especially :).

not neccesarily.Depends on the motive for the killings, and their position among the criminal fraternity. If hollywood is to be believed, the best of the true gangsters don't act in a manner that could incriminate themselves, they'contract out' their work, often 'disposing' of their contractors afterwars to ensure no chain of evidence.

Can't really say that. Whos to say that the guy rapping on the Music video is not from some blood gang in Los Angeles or some Crip gang in Compton. Some of these rappers are dudes straight off the block who made it in the music industry. Some Gansters rappers might be pranksters but people like Snoop or DJ Quick. Those is Gansta A$$ N*&^%$. I know because I grew up in both Compton and Los Angeles and I personally know people who know alot of these rappers. I don't know if anybody heard of Mausburg ( a rapper who was with DJ Quick) but I was at the party when he got shot and killed at like 3:00 in the morning in his car. He was a blood who just so happened to get into the industry and he told the stories of gang life in his lyrics. MY 02.

NO Eastside and Westside gangs aren't PROPER gangs- you want proper gangs- then Triads and the Mafia are two perfect examples-East/West side gangs use gang status to show how cool they are- how big of a man they are- watch the Ali G movie and read his book- it outlines perfectly how these sorts of gangs are pussies (By pretending to be one)
