When I replace the receiver in my car I plan on replacing the speakers, but I dont know what the best speakers to get are that will directly replace the stock ones without any modifications to the enclosures, any help would be great.:sun:

JL audio is my preference, but they dont make head units and i think that if you try to match your speakers with your headunit usually sounds the best. dont go crazy with the interior speakers, you dont need to pay a fortune for good sound, its the subwoofer that will really make the difference. you dont have to have 3 15's and make your windows explode if thats not your thing, even a small sub with a good amp will make your music sound ten times better. it takes the bass away from the smaller speakers so the music is more crisp.
i actually never replaced the interior speakers in my car, i just added a Premier head unit with a 12" JL W3 powered by a JL 250/1 amp in the trunk and its loud as hell. unfortunately i feel the need to be louder and make people jealous so in the next week im going to get my hands on 2 JL W7's with 2 Kenwood 1000w amps, hopefully it will crack pavement.
if you lived in my area i really couldve hooked you up because i do car stereos, but oh well.

rockford fosgate is really good, i replaced the speakers in my back window with rf's when i blew the stock ones. and i have 1 12" rf HE running off of a cadence amp. that 1 sub sounds better than the 2 mtx's i used to have. if u go with rf subs, you should get a rf amp too. they sound the best that way. JL is good for subs too, my friend had 3 10"s for a while and they would bump pretty good

rockford is only good if you spend the extra money and go for the good stuff, in which case you will be blown away by the performance...otherwise, it is pretty much overpriced junk

I own my own company and all we do is car audio/video.
The best speakers to put in a Maxima would be either JL audio, Audiobahn,Infinity, or Polk Audio. In that order. And you should go with two 10s instead of 8s,12s, or 15s. also if you wanted to change your head unit, Pioneer makes about the best ones with the most choices. Stay away from MTX, you can blow then too easily, and stay away from ANYTHING that says rampage!
If you want to know more about systems email me. I can make you a deal.

just from my personal experience i would say that fosgate and jl audio are the best subs, and as for door speakers boston accoustics components, but only if you have a sub because they dont deal with bass that well.

MTX speakers or amps don't blow too easily. I have two MTX Thunder6000 12" running with a Bazooka EL1500 Mono Amp perfect sound, a MTX 4122 2-channel 200watt amp running my fronts and my rears and I haven't had a problem with either. Even when I had 2 Thunder4000 I was told that you can hear me 2 blocks away and they had a hole in both subs. I know everyone has a right to their opinion, but I use MTX and they are great and as for going with 10's instead of 12's I disagree again. Also you should go with a seal box not bandpass, don't how good ported sound but seal is great for the space that you have in a Maxima. If you are referring to blowing the subs because of a large amp then you must have used something that put out more power than the JL 500/1 turned all the way up because they can handle the power pretty well. I do agree that JL make great subs and amps especially the 500/1 amp.

as far as speakers go, boston acoustic are the shit, and come at a reasonable price for how good of quality they are...xtant makes hella nice subs and amps, but they're pretty spendy. anyways, that's what i'd do. like i said, rf is only good if you spend the money to get the good shit. but seriously, get xtant subs and amps and boston acoustic speakers, and you will cry it will sound so good

seriously, rockford fosgare is not the absolute best when it comes to car audio...seriously, ask anyone who really knows what they are talking about and they will tell you. their high end stuff is good, but it's still overpriced and doesn't quite compete. ok, maybe they make the loudest shit, but who cares, it's not about decibals, it's about sound quality. rockford is just if you want to show off and say, "yeah, i got 3 rf 15's each powered by an rf amp, pretty bad ass huh?" it's just a name, and believe me, there is better out there. go to a really high quality audio store, and they will laugh at you if you say rf is the best

the rockfords are loud but the W7 is still the best sub on the market even though they are like 500 a piece and the JL 1000/1 is the best mono amp on the market. Solo Baric L7's and Audiobahn Flame Q's are next, the rockfords are up there but not quite the best.

suggestions:
eclipse headunit
zapco amps
front speakers - options are plenty - recommend adire koda 6.1 comps, phaze audio studio driver 2 or 3-way comps, cdt's, diamond audio m6 comps.
rear fill - not really necessary in SQ setup, but is nice for rear passengers.
subs: lots of debate over subs. Adire brahma's are supposed to be good. I can personally recommend Diamond Audio M6's.
check out caraudioforum.com lots of info there.

Has anyone heard these in a maxima? I was looking at the 6 1/2's to replace the bose speakers that blew out. I bought the infinity 6x9s for the rear, but couldn't afford the components for the door. The xplod's were cheaper, but i just wanted to know how they sounded.

too many options...
I suggest looking through the net and reading up on the specs and seeing what's in your price range, once you find something you might like go in person to a local store and hear them for yourself...

i think im gonna sell my premier head unit and pick up one of the Alpine's with the fantom faceplate. unfortunately i had the premier unit installed professionally when i bought it because they did it for free, and now it looks like its going to need a professional uninstall. ive done a lot of systems and i didnt realize how difficult my really was until i tried to remove it the other day.
Maximus: what kind of problems did you run into installing the aftermarket speakers (if you had the bose system)?

Hey maximus, you said you didn't have any problems uninstalling the bose speakers right? So what about the wires and the clip that plugs into the bose amps? Did you run all new speaker wires?

There was a kit I had to buy that "was" available for our maxima's(the fourth gen). The kit came with wires and different clips to basically start from scratch and let you do your own thing. The thing is I took out the Bose amps as well as all the wiring. Yes it was a grueling process that took all damn day but the bose unit is very complicated for one who doesn't know it. The kit can't be found at any Auto parts. I had to go to this Giant Swapmeet/Supermall over by my house to find it. There are 2 kits. One that is for stock system and one for the BOSE. But to answer your question clearly, Yes I had to run new speaker wires. I didn't have the patience to do it all in one day because I don't install systems all day but I do know how and I had to continue the next day. Day one consisted of taking everything out and planning(Blueprinting) how I was gonna run the system and day 2 was the actuall installing.

So maximus, when you took out all your wires, where did they run to? Under the carpet, or under the car? I want to take out the bose speakers in my 3rd gen max, since I already replaced the head unit. I was trying to add to 12" RF to my car, but was having trouble with the line converter. So instead of messing with it, I just want to change out the entire thing. Especially since one of the rear 6x9's blew out.

I would have to draw like a diagram. Some of it is on the side under the door and some are under the carpet. You can't see any wires though. All I can say is be patient and do it to your likeing

Why did you have to run new wires? If I'm right, all you have to do is clip the special connectors off and crimp on whatever you need for the new speaker. Electricity is Electricity, it really doesnt pay attention to what kind of wire it runs on..
I guess I could just run outside and check, couldnt I? Heh.
