733i Idling/Starting Problem

I have 1984 733i that when it's cold, it will not idle and stall out. Also when I give it more gas then it will do the same. The timing is 0-2 deg. when I do this also and when accelerating. But when it finally warms the timing is 10-12 deg. and does'nt stall. I changed the Air Mass Meter, but the problem lies in something Emissions related w/ the cold timing retard. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I heard something about a an External Resistor that cures this problem. Anybody have idea of where it is located or any information on this. Thanks
