Awesome band, I like them because they are different from a lot of other bands out there right now, and they arent going to change to suit someone elses taste. I hope they come out with a new album in the next year.

They'd be great if the lead singer would STFU. Hmmmm... maybe get Zach de la Rocha to sub for him permanently?

I never liked SOD... always thought they were too annoying/produced for my tastes. Different though, I'll give them that.

Yes they do... read the lyrics while listening to the songs... they will make sense...

I passed em off as some nutty bad the first time I heard them, but after a while I realized what they are actually talking about... At least I think I know... *shrugs*

Yeah, they've got alot to say, mostly political... reminds me of RATM which is why I suggested that Zach de la Rocha should take over hehehe

i like soad but i think they need to come out with a double cd, that would be awsome. there cds are always so short. i love the lyrics becuase they talk about some of the injustices that we overlook. like there song nuguns is realy out there. there lyrics do make sense but you have to make sense of their analogies to get the meaning of the song. i lie that bout them, they make you think...:p

I love em not as much for the lyrics or singing, but the technical music part. ITs fooking awesome.

My girlfriend absolutley hates them. But she's an "indie" rocker or something. Basically she hates anything mainstream because the fact that it's mainstream. She doesn like bands lok SOD or Metallica because she says "the lyrics are sooooooo typical"

ok.

Anyway, i think Serj's voice goes good with the music.

I bow down to soad.. ive bin the biggest fan for like 5 years and i cant get enough of the new cd. The lyrics are sooo deep and i like the slow songs like roulette and stuff just because it has a meaning. the new cd has alot of shit on it but also alot of stuff thats better than anything ive ever heard, i know that its just ur opinion but if u dont like soad then ur on somthing

BTW Serj is GOD!!!! how can u say he has a bad voice? he has so many different ranges

Thats about ignorant, if you listen to the way SOAD sounds, if you were to put ZDLR as the singer it wouldnt sound like SOAD at all. Besides, these guys are like family, all turks, all believe the same Idea, all make music for themselves. I wish RATM were still a band, I miss them, AudioSlave Sucks a big fat one.

Hell yea man, The lyrics System comes up with are so awesome, but they wouldn't be half as powerful w/o Serj's voice...

If he started a cult today I would drop everything I was doing and join :p

System fan right here. I voted HELL YEA, but my true opinion of them falls in between that and They're Ok. My only real problem with them is that they got just a little too big with Toxicity, and a band getting too big is sort of like the kiss of death. And, they did lose a little of the raw edge that they had on the first album. Unlike most of their newer fans, who were hooked by Chop Suey, I was hooked by Sugar a while back. The stuff off Toxicity is great, but it just doesn't rock the same way, IMO.

As for the vocals and lyrics, I have a good friend who also can't stand them either, merely because of Serj's voice. It just doesn't sit with some people. I also know someone who doesn't like their music, or metal in general, but likes System because of Serj's voice. For the record, I too love the dynamcs of his voice. And, if you really think the lyrics are typical or nonsense, then I can say from an almost objective perspective that you are simply not giving them enough of a chance.

As for the quality of the band's live performance, I have seen them twice now (Pledge of Allegiance, October 2001, Hartford Civic Center, and Ozz Fest, July 2002, Meadows Music Theater), and I assert that they are among the best in live performances of the genre today. From the consistency with their recorded tracks, to the solos they pull out for live shows, they do put on an entertaining set.

I'm impressed that some of you know Dropkick Murphy's. I'm not a big fan myself, but I have a friend who is. And the band, despite the fact that one of their posters makes a "cameo" in a Papa Roach video, is mostly underground.
